The College of Plant Protection is the only college in China with two national key disciplines and one provincial key discipline. Its predecessor was the former Central University Plant Diseases Group, Insect Group and Pest and Disease Department. This is the earliest similar department established in China. 1952 the plant protection department was established when the national department was adjusted, and the hospital was established on June 8, 2000. After several generations of construction, it has formed an excellent style of study with rigorous scholarship and equal emphasis on theory and practice, and established the leading position of this discipline in the country.

The college consists of 3 departments, 1 directly affiliated teaching and research section, 4 research institutes, 1 ministerial key open laboratory, and 2 national training centers directly affiliated to the Ministry. Among the two disciplines, plant pathology and agricultural pest control are the national key disciplines, and pesticide science is the key discipline in Jiangsu Province.

Our plant protection discipline has a long history and is famous for its gathering of masters and talented people. Zou Bingwen, Zou, Zhang Jubo and Dai, the founders of plant protection science in China, and Wei Jingchao, Zou, Fang and Youziping, the older generation of scientists who devoted themselves to it, are outstanding representatives.

There are 63 faculty members, including professor 18, associate professor 15, doctoral supervisor 14 and master supervisor 17. He holds the post of National distinguished professor, enjoys 25 special government allowances, and is selected as 2 national trans-century talents, 3 national outstanding contribution experts, 2 national outstanding teachers, 2 ministerial outstanding contribution experts and national advanced workers 1 person. 84% of young and middle-aged professional teachers have doctoral degrees, and a number of young academic leaders have emerged. Six people were selected into the "333" talent training project in Jiangsu Province. The college has/kloc-0 postdoctoral mobile stations for plant pathology, entomology and agronomy, 3 doctoral programs and 3 master programs, and has trained nearly 20 graduate students in research fields. Recruit undergraduates in five majors or directions: plant protection, plant pathology, agricultural entomology, plant quarantine and pesticide science. Editor-in-chief 15 kinds of teaching materials, participated in 29 kinds of teaching materials, won the first prize of national excellent teaching achievements 1 kind, 9 kinds of provincial teaching achievements, 5 professional core courses were provincial-level quality courses, and presided over the research of national-level teaching reform projects of this discipline twice. At present, 70-90 graduate students and 70-90 undergraduate students 120- 150 can be employed at one time.

(1) Plant Protection Major

1. Training objectives: This major trains applied senior technical talents with certain basic knowledge of natural science and profound knowledge of biology and agriculture, firmly grasps the basic theory, knowledge and skills of plant protection, can independently engage in technical work, scientific and technological development, popularization and application and management in plant protection and related fields, and has good comprehensive quality and innovative spirit.

B Training requirements: Students in this major mainly study basic theories and knowledge related to agricultural biological sciences, plant pathology, entomology and plant protection, get basic training in integrated pest management, and have the basic ability of biological disaster diagnosis, prediction and integrated management.

Graduates of this major should have the following knowledge and ability:

Have a solid knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, foreign languages and computer basic theory; Master the basic theoretical knowledge of biology and agricultural science; Have the skills and methods to identify and investigate agricultural pests; Familiar with the occurrence and development law of agricultural pests, with the basic knowledge and skills of pest disaster prediction, guidance and prevention; Familiar with relevant laws and regulations on plant protection, plant inspection and pesticide management; Have the ability to popularize and apply new plant protection technologies and manage plant protection equipment; Master the basic methods of scientific and technological literature retrieval and information inquiry, and have certain scientific research, independent work and innovative ability; Good investigation, comprehensive decision-making, organizational management and self-expression skills; Have a good style of study and collaborative dedication.

(2) Ecology major

1. Training objective: To train professionals who have basic theories, knowledge and skills of ecology, receive scientific thinking and scientific experiment training in basic research and applied basic research, have knowledge structure and ability structure that meet the needs of lifelong education and social development, have good comprehensive quality and innovative spirit, and can engage in scientific research, teaching and management in scientific research institutions, universities, enterprises and institutions and administrative departments.

B Training requirements: Students in this major mainly study the basic theories and knowledge of agricultural biological science, ecology, environmental science, system engineering, computer algorithm and programming, master the experimental skills of modern ecology and computer simulation, and have the ability of teaching, research, development and management in this field.

Graduates of this major should have the following knowledge and ability:
