In the late Qing Dynasty, the government decided to make peony the national flower.1In 929, the government of the Republic of China in Nanjing proposed plum blossom as the national flower, but it was not put to the vote. However, since then, the government of the Republic of China has traditionally regarded plum blossom as the national flower. For example, the epaulettes and caps of national generals are decorated with plum blossoms, and the buildings of Nanjing Republic of China Military Memorial Hall are decorated with plum blossom patterns. After the Chiang regime moved to Taiwan Province Province, it was about 1962, and the "Executive Yuan" officially issued a document, which designated plum blossom as the "national flower". After the reform and opening up in New China, there have been many initiatives and discussions on the establishment of the national flower. For example, the CPPCC often sees relevant bills. In the mid-1990s, the National Flower Association held a national flower selection, and the conclusion was that peony was the national flower, and orchids, lotus flowers, chrysanthemums and plum blossoms were the four seasons of auxiliary flowers. However, this conclusion only stopped at the announcement of the association and did not enter any legislative procedure. So People's Republic of China (PRC) still has no official national flower. However, there are many folk discussions and some knowledge. It is generally believed that peony and plum blossom are both national flowers.
