Xiang Yu (232 BC-202 BC) was born in Xia Xiang (now southwest of Suqian, Jiangsu Province) and the capital of Pengcheng (now Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province). He is the representative of China's military thought "Brave School", and he is as famous as Sun Wu and others. The death of the body is recorded in the history books. In the annotation of Historical Records of Xiang Yu, Ceng Dian clearly knew that Wang Xiang "died in the country of five years and in Dongcheng". The Historical Records of Emperor Gaozu recorded it more clearly: "In the fifth year of the Han Dynasty ... he rode a general to Guanyung to hunt down the eastern city of Xiang Yu, beheaded 80 thousand people, and then decided Chu." After Qin's death, he was called the overlord of the West Chu, and the system of enfeoffment was implemented, making Qin heroes and nobles of the six countries kings. After fighting for the world with Liu Bang, the Chu-Han War lasted for four years. In 202 BC, he was defeated and committed suicide by the Wujiang River in Gaixia (now Lingbi South, Anhui). The ancients commented on it as "brave feather, unparalleled throughout the ages", and the word "overlord" originated from Xiang Yu.

Hongmen Bai Yan

After Xiang Yu destroyed Qin Jun's main force, he led the vassal army into Guanzhong. Unexpectedly, Liu Bangjun had got there first and entered Xianyang. Originally, when the Julu of Xiang Yu was at war with the main force of Qin Jun, Liu Bang led another rebel army to take advantage of the main force of Qin Jun to seize the opportunity of Julu, and went to Levin (now southwest of Qixian County, Henan Province) and Vanke (now Nanyang, Henan Province) to enter Wuguan, and successfully entered Bashang (now southeast of Xi City), forcing Zi Ying, the king of Qin, to surrender and occupy Xianyang first. After Liu Bang occupied Guanzhong, he sent troops to retreat and prevented Xiang Yu from entering the customs. Seeing this, Xiang Yu, in a rage, broke into Hong Men (now northeast of Lintong, Shaanxi). The two armies of Liu and Xiang were at swords' points, and the contradiction intensified rapidly.

At that time, Xiang Yu had more than 400,000 mercenaries and Liu Bang had less than 100,000. Xiang Yu has the intention of destroying Liu Bang's army with superior forces to monopolize Guanzhong. Counselor Fan Zeng also advised him to "hurry up, don't lose." Just as Xiang Yu was about to take action, his uncle leaked the action attempt to Liu Bang. Knowing that he was defeated, Liu Bang wooed Xiang Bo, asked for mediation, and went to Hong Men to express his sincerity. Xiang Yu is a man who lacks strategic mind. He couldn't stand a few good words from Liu Bang, so he changed his plan to destroy Liu. At the banquet hosted by Liu Bang, no matter how Fan Zeng hinted, Xiang Yu could not make up his mind to capture and kill Liu Bang alive. Fan Zeng knew there would be serious consequences when he set the tiger free, so he called Xiang Zhuang and asked him to kill Liu Bang with his sword. Liu bang made an excuse to escape. This is the famous "Hongmen Banquet" in history.

It was undoubtedly Xiang Yu's mistake to let Liu Bang go at the Hongmen banquet. As for some people who say that "it is a plan to kill Ji Zhenren unintentionally to punish Qin", that is just pedantic.

After Xiang Yu entered Xianyang, he was arrogant. In Xianyang, soldiers burned and looted treasures; Make great efforts to conquer the land and seal the king (the country sealed eighteen princes), self-styled overlord of western Chu, and established Pengcheng (now Xuzhou) as its capital. Xiang Yu's practice violated the people's desire for stability and reunification at that time and lost the hearts of the people. The princes were also dissatisfied with Xiang Yu because of the uneven packet. Of course, it is Liu Bang who hates Xiang Yu. Xiang Yu named Liu Bang Hanwang, coerced him to leave Guanzhong and move to Hanzhong (now the southern foot of Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi Province), and made Zhang Han, Sima Xin and Dong Yun the kings of Qin, so that Liu Bang could not move eastward. This mistake of keeping a tiger legacy led to Liu Bang's later comeback.
