At present, there are seven doctoral supervisors in the School of Geographical Sciences, namely, Professor Li Baosheng is currently the director of the Chinese Geographical Society, the deputy director of the Tropical and Subtropical Branch of the Quaternary Research Committee of China, the director of the Geomorphology Research Office of South China Normal University, and the head of the doctoral program of the Department of Physical Geography. Professor Zhou Shangzhe has long been engaged in the research of Quaternary direction of physical geography and geomorphology and postgraduate training. Professor Xu has long been engaged in teaching and scientific research in environmental ecology, phytogeography, forestry ecology, garden ecology, eco-tourism and nature reserve construction. Professor Zhong Wei is mainly engaged in the research of physical geography, geomorphology and Quaternary environmental evolution. Professor Zhou Houyun studies global climate and environmental change. Recently, he mainly engaged in the study of paleoclimate and environmental changes related to karst cave deposits, paying special attention to the significance of trace elements and strontium isotope composition of cave secondary carbonate deposits in the study of paleoclimate and environmental changes. Professor Wang Wei is mainly engaged in the teaching and research of coastal environment in South China.
