Acidizing potassium permanganate is equivalent to adding H+ to the solution containing MnO4-, which can make the solution more oxidizing.

As for the types of added acids (strong acids such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid and dilute hydrochloric acid), it does not affect the oxidation effect itself, as long as the purpose of generating permanganate by adding H+ is achieved.

However, if hydrochloric acid is added, the concentration should not be too high, because concentrated hydrochloric acid is too reductive and will react with potassium permanganate.
