What is SCI?

SCI (Science Citation Index), EI (Engineering Index) and ISTP (Science and Technology Conference Index) are three world-famous retrieval systems for scientific documents, which are internationally recognized as the main retrieval tools for scientific statistics and scientific evaluation, among which SCI is the most important.

SCI) is a citation database founded and published by institute for scientific information (ISI) 196 1, which covers life science, clinical medicine, physical chemistry, agriculture, biology, veterinary medicine, engineering technology and other comprehensive retrieval publications, especially reflecting the academic level of natural science research. It is the most famous of the three retrieval systems in the world at present, among which life science, medicine, chemistry and physics account for the largest proportion, and the collection scope is the important international journals of that year. In particular, its citation index shows unique scientific reference value and occupies an important position in academic circles. Many countries and regions regard the papers collected and cited by SCI as an important index to evaluate academic level. Judging from SCI's strict principles of journal selection and strict expert evaluation system, it has certain objectivity and truly reflects the level and quality of the paper. According to the inclusion and citation of SCI, we can reflect the development of academic level from one side. Especially the annual ranking of SCI papers has become a very important standard to judge the scientific research level of a school. SCI takes the current content as the data source. At present, there are more than 5,000 periodicals in the natural science database, including 1350 in the life science series. The engineering and computer technology series includes 1030 kinds; 990 kinds of clinical drugs were collected; 950 kinds of agricultural and biological environmental sciences; The series of physics, chemistry and earth sciences includes 900 periodicals. The coverage of each version is different:

There are 3,500 printed (SCI) bimonthly publications.

SciSearch updates 5600 articles every week.

The CD-ROM version (with abstract) (SCICDE) is updated 3,500 times a month (the same as the printed version).

The online version (SCIExpanded) updates 5600 kinds every week (the same as the online version).

What are the influencing factors of SCI journals?

ISI publishes JCR (Journal Citation Report) every year. JCR statistically calculates the citation and cited data between journals included in SCI, including SCI-Expanded (including SCI core journals), and defines indicators such as impact factors for each journal to report. The impact factor of a periodical refers to the average number of citations in the previous two years. The higher the impact factor of a publication, the higher the citation rate of its published documents, which on the one hand shows that the research results reported by these documents have great influence, on the other hand, it also reflects the high academic level of the publication. Therefore, JCR has become a regular evaluation tool with a large number of regular statistical data and calculating impact factors. 80% of foreign periodicals collected by FMJS are collected by SCI, and the influencing factors of all periodicals collected by SCI can be understood in periodical navigation.

What is EI?

Engineering index (EI) was founded in 1884, which is a well-known comprehensive retrieval tool for engineering technology published by engineering information company. EI is published every month 1 issue, with abstracts from 13000 to 14000; Each issue is accompanied by a subject index and an author index; There is also an annual volume and an annual index every year, and the annual index also increases the author unit index. There are print (periodicals), electronic (tapes) and microfilm. EI has selected more than 3,500 periodicals in 15 languages and more than 3,500 conference proceedings, scientific reports, standards, books and other publications in dozens of countries and regions around the world. More than 654.38+600,000 articles are reported every year. The collected literature covers almost all fields of engineering technology. For example: electric power, electrician, electronics, automatic control, mining and metallurgy, metal technology, machinery manufacturing, civil engineering, water conservancy and so on. It has the characteristics of strong comprehensiveness, wide data sources, wide geographical coverage, large amount of reports, high quality of reports and strong authority.

EI divides the papers it contains into two grades.

1, EI Compendex index abstract

Including the title and abstract of the paper, indexing and deep processing with subject words and classification numbers. Whether there are subject words and classification numbers is the only sign to judge whether a paper is officially included in EI.

2. The title record on the first page of 2.EI

It is mainly reported in the form of title records. Some also have abstracts, but they have not been further processed, and there are no subject words and classification numbers. Therefore, the abstract on the first page is not necessarily a formal entry into EI.

EI's requirements for manuscript content and academic level

1, engineering papers with high academic level, including mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, ship engineering, manufacturing technology and other disciplines. Mining, metallurgy, material engineering, metal materials, non-ferrous metals, ceramics, plastics and polymer engineering. Civil engineering, building engineering, structural engineering, ocean engineering, water conservancy engineering, etc. ; Electrical engineering, power plant, electronic engineering, communication, automatic control, computer, computing technology, software, aerospace technology, etc. Chemical engineering, petrochemical industry, combustion technology, biotechnology, light industry textile, food industry; Engineering management.

2. Projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation, key scientific and technological projects and "863" high-tech projects.

3. The paper has reached the international advanced level and the results are innovative.

EI does not include papers on pure basic theory.
