Topic: On Du Fu's Epic

Du Fu is the highest peak of realism in the history of China's poetry. His documentary works involve social unrest, political darkness and people's sufferings, and are known as "the history of poetry". Taking specific poems as examples, this paper expounds the origin and characteristics of the name "History of Poetry", and discusses the influence of Du Fu's experience in the special period of Tang Dynasty from prosperity to decline on his works, as well as the unique historical value of such poems.

Abstract: Du Fu reached the peak of realistic poetry in the history of China's poetry. His poems about social unrest, political darkness and people's suffering are regarded as "epics". This paper discusses the characteristics of Du Fu's poems and the reasons why they are called "epics" through the study of specific poems. It also discusses the influence of his experience in the special period of Tang Dynasty from prosperity to decline on his poetic style, and the unique historical value of such poems.
