There are many ways to understand holiness. According to Shurangama Sutra, there are twenty-five kinds of * * *. Why? Because six roots, six dust and six senses are eighteen roads, plus seven, * * * is twenty-five roads.
You can enter the Tao in these twenty-five ways. Generally speaking, it is the most direct from the root. Because in the chapter of "Two Fundamentals of Life and Death", it is said that fans are also fascinated from here, and enlightenment is also realized from here. The root is a bridge of misunderstanding. However, only when the ear enters the Tao can it be called Tongyuan method, and the other 24 methods cannot be called Tongyuan method. It's in Ode to Manjusri.
Why? Because the three attributes of the ear root are not available in other roots at the same time, only the ear root has them. What are the three attributes? One is the nature of circle, the other is the nature of general, and the third is the nature of constant. These three attributes are called three realities in the scriptures.
At present, the methods handed down by domestic teachers (including Yuan Yin's ear root method) are not divorced from the root. These practices, which are not divorced from the root of meaning, are not really ingenious.
So what do you smell when you are quiet in the practice of hearing? What is the self-smell? What is the inflow and outflow? It is mentioned in the scripture, but it is not easy for us to understand. Sanskrit is mentioned in the scripture. What can it do? It can make you live forever at birth (nirvana) and save the world. Inflow is also inflow, and sound is also heard. But this voice is not the voice of our world, but the voice of another world. Because Hokkekyo said: the Sanskrit sound of the tide is better than the sound of another world. The other world refers to our world, and victory means transcendence, which means that it is different from the trend of our world.
