Sima Qian chose another road. After being imprisoned, he endured a long and sad night in the shabby official residence, and the pain that stirred his heart came. A man of iron and steel has become incomplete, and the injustice of fate has unreasonably befallen a man in his prime. Do people have to live so hard and boring? Despair weighed heavily on his sensitive heart. Maybe he thought of death. But if a person has not made great achievements in history, what can he do even if his limbs are intact? Isn't a career dwarf as terrible as a physical disability? Night terrors, we suddenly saw him holding unfinished bamboo slips in his desperate hand. The other hand, which was stiff from the cold, clung to the knife and pencil ... Facing the great humiliation of castration, although he also "wiped his back and sweated with a towel every time he saw the great humiliation", it was so painful that "his intestines went back nine times a day and he didn't know where to go in the house", but when he thought of the unfinished work, he had the motivation and courage to live, and finally endured the humiliation and finished it. His great achievements and far-reaching influence on China culture have fascinated future generations.

Qu Yuan's death is "to die with a clear ambition", while Sima Qian's ambition is to die without regret. The reason is that they have different aspirations, so they have different ways to resist suffering. Qu Yuan's ambition is to save the country and the people, and his political ideal is his spiritual pillar. Everything in his life revolves around politics. When he was repeatedly hit and his political life ended, so did his own life. For him, Ci Fu is just a "path", but he inadvertently left a farewell song for generations.

Sima Qian's ambition lies in his historical records and the spread of history. So in the face of suffering, his biggest task is to survive and write. He cannot die. Qu Yuan's death is heroic, but his death is a kind of submission, which will only increase his humiliation and weakness. He knew this, so he survived for this ambition, and finally he succeeded. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty castrated him, while Historical Records castrated Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty forever. His calmness, justice and courage have been "swan song" for more than two thousand years through historical records, and I am afraid he will continue to "swan song".

The curtain of history has been opened layer by layer, and one big era after another is hidden in the dark night of time. However, Qu Yuan and Sima Qian shine like bright stars on the historical canopy of our spiritual home.
