In August, my parents and I came to Xishuangbanna and saw the iconic towering tree in the tropical rain forest-Wangtianshu.
We followed the guide on a yacht and sailed along the Mengla River to the scenic spot. I lay by the boat and looked at the river bank, feeling that the flowers and trees on both sides were welcoming us. I haven't seen enough of this beautiful scenery, and the yacht has reached the shore. I am reluctant to look back and follow the tour guide into the Wangtianshu Scenic Area.
Standing in the Woods, I finally saw their true colors. It's really a big tree after another. The tour guide said, "Wangtian Tree, also known as Qingtian Tree, is forty or sixty meters high. The wood of Wangtianshu is hard and durable, and it is a good wood for making high-end furniture. " I stood under the tree and looked up at the canopy. Wow, wow, wow, how high! From the root to the crown, it is really tens of meters, straight and straight, really spectacular. One tree, two trees, three trees ... all the trunks of the trees have grown to the crown. My father and I can't hold a big tree hand in hand. How thick it is!
In order to see the canopy clearly, we embarked on the "canopy corridor" more than 20 meters above the ground. Walking on the suspension bridge between trees and looking down at the suspension bridge plate is really thrilling. Although we have stood so high, we still can't see the crown clearly when we look up, but we can vaguely see the branches at the crown, and the leaves on the branches are not big or dense.
We came down from the canopy corridor and picked up some fruits under the tree. They are as big as nails, and the small olive-shaped gray seeds are wrapped by four long leaves. They smell like fragrant wood in our hands. What a nice fruit!
Look up at the sky at the tall tree, and then look at the nail-sized seed in front of you. As long as it germinates and survives, it will work hard to grow and grow into a towering tree. Isn't this spirit of hard work what I need most when I grow up?
I heard that Wangtianshu Scenic Area is the only oasis at 22 degrees north latitude, so I went to Wangtianshu Scenic Area with curiosity to find out.
Get off at the scenic spot and meet me in Wangtianshu forest area. The tall and straight trunk stands among the green trees in the forest, reaching the sky as if it were earth-shattering. The height of a tree is not the only reason why it is precious, but its most precious place is that it is a Dipterocarpaceae plant. In Southeast Asia, Dipterocarpaceae is one of the important symbols of tropical rain forest. It is the discovery of Cephalotaxus fortunei that proves that there are tropical rainforests in China.
During the tour guide's explanation, we came to the canopy air corridor. Looking at this 500-meter-long corridor standing at an altitude of 36 meters, I can't help but feel a little scared. Dad said, "If you don't take a walk in this corridor, you will waste your time here." Come on, let's go together! "So we came to the first canopy along the stairs and saw a ladder between the canopy and the canopy that only allowed one person to pass. Even if a person slowly moves to another canopy not far from the opposite side without a trace of wind, the ladder is rickety. When I first started walking, my legs were weak. My father always encourages me, and my uncles and sisters who come with me also cheer me up. Everyone is talking and laughing. Try not to look down. Finally, with everyone's encouragement, I successfully walked to the opposite canopy. Overlooking the whole tropical rainforest from the air, it feels really different. I feel like a bird, perched on a branch. The rainforest is right under my feet, showing another kind of beauty and magic. I sat on the top of the tree, in this rainforest space with many kinds of plants, taking a deep breath, feeling everything and getting close to nature.
Leaving the air corridor, we came to the rainforest trail. This is my first walk in the tropical rain forest. Tall dark green plants with different shapes are wet and dark, and all kinds of strange natural phenomena and species jump into reality from books, such as strangulation in the jungle, such as mimicry of butterflies, such as flowers with old stems, fruits with old stems, such as big roots, such as dripping leaves, and so on. We were all intoxicated by the tour guide's explanation. For example, strangulation: after animals bring banyan seeds to other trees, these seeds will germinate and grow adventitious roots. With the continuous growth of the banyan tree, its adventitious roots cross and fuse with each other, gradually wrapping and tightening the host tree together with the branches, and supporting its body with the help of the host tree. When these banyan trees grow into big trees, their roots and stems have completely lacked nutrition and died, and these strangled banyan trees eventually become independent big trees. The world of plants is also cruel.
Out of the rainforest trail, we came to the rainforest restaurant, ate Dai-style food and watched ethnic dances, ending this pleasant journey.
In Xishuangbanna, China, there is a tall plant called Wangtianshu.
The height of the tree is seventy or eighty meters, which is equivalent to the height of 20 floors. Its stem is smooth, with only a few branches at the top and oval and green leaves. Seen from a distance, this tree looks like a huge umbrella. Because it is very tall, it has the title of "forest giant" and "king of the forest".
The wood of the tree is hard, durable and corrosion-resistant, and it is not easy to be eaten by insects; This material is brownish yellow, has no special smell, flat texture, uniform structure, easy processing, smooth planing and beautiful patterns, and is a high-grade material for manufacturing various furniture.
There is also a beautiful legend about trees looking up to the sky: a long time ago, the gods in the sky always scattered some flowers on the ground, which is called "goddess scattering flowers", which made people not only have birds singing, but also flowers. Only in this way can people's lives be colorful and less monotonous.
After years of hard work, some of these seeds have become the most popular gifts for Valentine's Day according to their respective goals: roses; Some become grass that does not seek wealth and success; Some hope to see their hometown paradise, which keeps growing, getting higher and higher, and finally becomes a tree looking up at the sky.
