The Lifetime Achievement Award for Translation Culture was decided by the fifth executive meeting of the fifth session of the China Translators Association in 2006. On September 26th, 2006, at the age of 95, Mr Ji Xianlin became the first winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Translation Culture.
Ji Xianlin, 19 1 1 was born in Qingping County (now Linqing City), Shandong Province. Famous linguist, translator, educator and social activist. 65438-0930 entered the Department of Western Literature in Tsinghua University, majoring in English literature and studying German and French literature. For decades, Ji Xianlin has been devoted to the research and translation of English, German, Sanskrit and other literary works, and has published nearly four million words. His main works include Essays on the History of Sino-Indian Cultural Relations, A Brief History of India, A Preliminary Study of Ramayana, Essays on Ancient Indian Words, Buddhism and Cultural Exchanges between China and India, A Brief History of Oriental Literature, A History of Sugar, and Translation of Tuholowen (Meeting Maitreya).
