Extended data

Ship signal lights are divided into two types according to their uses: navigation lights and general signal lights. The turn-on and turn-off time of 1 light is generally defined by sunset and sunrise. For navigation lights, the relevant rules stipulate that they should be turned on at any time, even during the day, in the case of poor visibility.

According to international rules, the number of navigation lights varies according to the size and length of the ship. Ships over 50 meters in length should be equipped with five navigation lights, namely, front mast light, rear mast light, rear stern light and port and starboard lights.
