Most non-diplomatic visas and unofficial visas issued by American embassies and consulates abroad require applicants to pay visa application fees to make up for the expenses incurred in the process of visa production, processing and printing.

20 10 on may 20th, the State Council, USA announced the notice on increasing the application fee for non-immigrant visas, which can also be called the machine-readable visa fee. According to the new fee standard, all visas that do not need to apply for approval from the United States first, including B 1/B2 business travel visas, and all student and exchange visit visas (F, M, J), need to pay an application fee of $65,438+$040. Please note that the visa application fee will not be refunded whether the visa is issued or not. If the visa application fee has been paid and the visa application has not been submitted within one year, no refund will be given. Only applicants with diplomatic passports, applicants who meet the visa requirements of Class A, Class G, C-2, C-3 and NATO, and J visa applicants guaranteed by the US government can be exempted from the visa application fee.

In addition to the visa application fee, you also need to pay the visa issuance fee to apply for certain types of visas. Visa issuance fees are based on the principle of reciprocity (another country also charges fees when American citizens get similar visas). The United States has been striving to abolish visa issuance fees as much as possible. However, when a foreign government charges American citizens a visa issuance fee for a certain type of visa, the United States will charge the citizens of that country an equivalent fee for the same type of visa. The visa issuance fee should be paid in US dollars or local currency at the US embassy or consulate after the visa is approved. At present, China citizens only need to pay the visa issuance fee when applying for L-type visas.
