1. First, select your title, as shown in the figure.

2. Select the format in the Start tab as shown in the figure, and select the directory format structure you like.

3. After selection, your title will establish an outline index, and at the same time, it will also have the default title format of word. As shown in the figure.

4. In the same way, establish the index of directory structure step by step, such as title 2 and title 3, as shown in the figure.

5. Similarly, we set an outline index for all the titles in the whole document, as shown in the figure.

Second, automatically generate the directory.

First, position the cursor to the location where the directory is stored. Then, click the tab reference directory automatic directory 1 or 2, as shown in the figure.

If you update many articles or adjust the directory structure, you need to update the directory domain, as shown in the figure. Click the directory and right-click the drop-down menu-Update Domain.

I suggest you choose to update the whole directory so that you won't miss it. Click OK and update.

If you are not satisfied with the default directory format, you need to customize it. As shown in the figure, click the reference directory and insert the directory.
