Artistic Appreciation —— Sculpture Classic laocoon
The sculpture laocoon is a group of marble sculptures created by the ancient Greek sculptor Agger Sandroos and his sons Politoros and Adinandoros in the middle of 1 century BC. There is such a story behind sculpture creation.

The Trojan War lasted for nearly ten years, with heavy casualties on both sides, but the city of Troy could not be captured for a long time. At the Greek military conference, the famous hero Odysseus came up with a clever plan: the whole army retreated temporarily, leaving a hollow wooden horse outside the city, full of warriors. Then send a brave and eloquent man to cheat the enemy's trust and persuade them to bring Troy's Mara into the city. At night, the samurai hiding in the wooden horse came out, opened the city gate and captured Troas at one stroke.

The Greeks accepted Odysseus' advice, and the Trojans were indeed deceived. When they were about to pull the wooden horse into the city, laocoon, the cleverest priest in Troas, ran out and shouted to his compatriots, "You are so stupid! How can you trust a cunning enemy? Who knows what danger this Trojan horse is hiding? Maybe it is a mysterious siege machine? We can't drag it into the city! "

? With that, he took a spear from the soldier and threw it at the wooden horse. The spear is deeply embedded in the horse's stomach and swings in the air. The samurai hiding in the belly of the horse was frightened, and the Trojan hesitated. However, at this moment, something terrible happened: the mirror-like water suddenly separated and two giant pythons with red crowns swam quickly to the shore. With flames in their eyes, they screamed and ran to laocoon and his two sons. The python first entangled the two youths, biting their bodies, and then circled laocoon who came to rescue them. Father and son tried desperately to get rid of them, but they couldn't. Finally, he choked to death. Two pythons climbed into the temple of Athena and disappeared. It turns out that these two pythons were sent by Athena to get back at laocoon.

All this frightened the Trojans. They thought that God was punishing laocoon, so they soon put the Trojan horse into the city. This irreparable mistake led to the fall of Troya.

This group sculpture, with three people and two snakes, forms a whole with a strong sense of movement, and the characters twist with the winding of snakes. This work is highly praised by people. Goethe said that human beings can feel the pain of themselves and others in three ways: fear, terror and sympathy. It is not easy for a work of art to express one of the emotions. However, laocoon showed three emotions. Look, laocoon was bitten by a snake. Although he struggled, his fate of inevitable failure was terrible. Laocoon's youngest son has died, which is frightening. Sadly, laocoon's eldest son may escape. In front of this silent work of art, we seem to hear groans and shouts of pain.
