Zunyi Vocational and Technical College was formed by the merger of Zunyi Agricultural School, Zunyi Finance and Trade School, Zunyi Agricultural Mechanization School, Zunyi Commercial and Technical School and Zunyi Agricultural Machinery Research Institute. It was approved by Guizhou Provincial People's Government on August/KOOC-0/day, 2002 (filed by the Ministry of Education) and formally established on April/KOOC-0/8, 2002. At present, there are 459 teaching and administrative staff, 8,087 students in higher vocational colleges and more than 1,000 students (including secondary vocational schools and technical schools).

The school has 9 teaching institutions, including the Department of Economic Management, the Department of Modern Agriculture, the Department of Electromechanical and Information Engineering, the Department of Automobile Engineering, the Department of Architecture and Art Design, the Department of Humanities and Tourism, the College of Technicians, the College of Continuing Education, and the Department of Basic Education (Department of Ideological and Political Affairs).
The college offers 43 higher vocational majors such as construction engineering technology, accounting, e-commerce, business administration, tourism management, tea production and processing technology, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine (among which automobile inspection and maintenance technology and computer application technology are the key construction majors of the central government), and nursing, marketing and modern agronomy technology 10 secondary vocational majors.
There are 42 faculty members1person, including 3 doctoral students, 6 master students1person, 256 undergraduates, 77 with senior titles (8 professors and 69 associate professors) and 64 with intermediate titles.
