Ways to find sci documents: Science Network, Google Academic and University Library.
Web of Science is one of the most authoritative large-scale academic databases in the world, covering the research literature from 1900 to now. Google Academic is a search engine launched by Google for searching academic documents, which can help you search academic documents of thousands of universities, research institutions, academic publishing houses and other institutions around the world. Every university library will buy some foreign literature.
What exactly is SCI?
SCI is an evaluation system. To clarify this matter, we must first clarify the relationship between documents.
First of all, we should know that almost no article exists independently, and some important contents are "references", which makes scientific research "stand on the shoulders of giants" develop rapidly. There are complex mutual citation relationships between articles, just like the "friend circle" network on WeChat, there are also citation networks between articles, which can be summarized into four types:
1) You quoted me.
2) You are quoted by me.
3) We don't quote each other, but what we say is relevant.
4) It doesn't matter at all.
Then, some scholars in the United States put forward a new research theory for these relationships, and we can use the citation relationship between articles to conduct a three-dimensional expansion study of an Idear.
If you find an interesting article A and find that A quotes B and B quotes C ... this dimension is "the deeper you look (the earlier)"; If you find that A quoted by B and B is quoted by C ... this dimension is "the more you look up, the newer you are"; If it is found that A is not related to B and C, this dimension is "wider as you look up". These three dimensions ensure the integrity of scientific research.
Based on this theory, ISI (institute for scientific information, USA) established a database named "Web of Science", which was divided into several databases according to disciplines and types, and sorted out the citation relationship of papers, which greatly improved the research efficiency of researchers.
