Many friends like to watch oil paintings, but they don't know how to appreciate them. Oil painting often gives people a strong feeling because of its vivid and delicate or extensive surface effect, and it has been widely accepted and loved by our people. My ability is insufficient, and I want to introduce some knowledge in this field to you with my meager strength. I mainly focus on Russian landscape paintings and tell you how to appreciate traditional oil paintings.
Oil painting is a painting made on linen, cardboard or wood with pigments easily mixed with oil agents (flax oil, poppy oil, walnut oil, etc.). ). Diluents used in paint are volatile turpentine and dry linseed oil. The pigment attached to the picture has strong hardness and can keep luster for a long time after the picture is dried. Oil painting is the main type of western painting.
A huge wave like a mountain peak came head on, and several sailors were still struggling to survive by grasping the broken mast. This is a very familiar picture of the oil painting "Nine Waves".
/kloc-In the middle of the 0/9th century, a seascape painter appeared in Russia. His art not only shocked the whole of Russia, but also was highly praised by contemporary painters in western Europe. Pushkin and composer glinka called him an enthusiastic singer who described the ocean. Turner, a famous British seascape painter, is full of praise for his works. Aivazovski, the founder of Russian seascape painting.
Aivazovski is good at showing the night view of the sea, especially at describing the storm at night, the boundless wide sea surface, the water vapor of the sunset, the wild waves of clouds, the waves frolicking in the moonlight, and the ships attacked by the storm. This is all to show the power of nature, so as to show the fearless spirit of the Russian people.
Oil painting has been born for more than 600 years. It was first invented by Van Eyck brothers in the Netherlands in the14th century. In China, it was not until the end of 19 that it was officially introduced by European students with little mathematics and fine arts. It is a kind of pigment made of linseed oil, toner and stearic acid, which is coated on a cloth or board with a foundation. Because oil painting can be scraped off and redrawn, it can be revised continuously until it is satisfactory.
Compared with watercolor gouache, oil painting is thick, strong and durable. Therefore, oil paintings can often show those big scenes and more in-depth theme descriptions.
The greatest charm of oil painting lies in four points: 1. Table 2. Lamp 3. Color 4. Brush strokes
Modeling is the basis of painting [I mean figurative painting, not abstract painting], and sketch is the basis of painting. In layman's terms, it is whether the painting is like it or not. Painting often uses light to express three-dimensional sense and sense of space. Oil painting is best at expressing realism. Color is the most wonderful part of oil painting. Whether it can impress you depends mainly on the charm of color! If a painting is monotonous in color, its charm will be much worse. Brush strokes are the traces of the painter's mind on the canvas, either unrestrained or delicate; Calm or warm, reflecting the painter's feelings and state of mind. So if you can't find any brush strokes in a painting, it may not be a good painting. What's the difference between it and a camera? Wouldn't it be better for us to use the camera now?
Painting is a visual art, besides its significance, we mainly appreciate the shape, color, light, atmosphere, artistic conception, expression, expression, temperament and so on. Otherwise, you can't enjoy the fun and enjoyment.
Oil painters also use different strokes, scrapers [oil painting knives] and the thinness of oil to create different textures such as hard, soft, coarse and fine. Therefore, the surface of oil painting is often uneven. After the oil painting pigment is drawn with oil painting strokes, a paste with different thickness appears, which forms a paste beauty with the waving of the painter's hand. People in the industry appreciate this "beauty of color paste", but laymen just don't understand why oil paintings are so uneven. So oil painting should be seen from a distance.
After the oil painting is finished, it must be framed. Friends who have seen the oil painting exhibition must be deeply impressed by the exquisite outline of the oil painting works. The picture frames of French impressionist painters' exhibitions in previous years cost at least 10 thousand yuan each.
In order to illustrate the application of brush strokes, I specially put a figure painting of Russian painter arkhipov here. In this painting, the painter wants to show a warm and harmonious atmosphere; Warm sunshine, strong and lively national costumes, with a wide brush, with warm, unrestrained, casual, powerful and smooth brushstrokes to express. Seeing the painter's warm and cheerful brushwork [somewhat like the freehand brushwork of Chinese painting] expressing rural women, the audience's heart will also be moved by the author. This feeling can't be given to you by photography.
The use of light and color in this painting is also very successful. This painting is backlit. Several fat ya's heads and faces have the light reflected by other people's clothes, as if taking pictures with auxiliary light.
Appreciating landscape painting mainly depends on its artistic conception. A good landscape painting must have a poetic mood. How much fun you can get when you appreciate it depends on your own experience and imagination.
The brush strokes and color paste of classical painting are not obvious, or even not. But after the invention of the camera, painters began to make a fuss about these two aspects. For example, this painting is an expressionist work that expresses the painter's psychological feelings.
Oil painting is the main type of western painting, and its styles are also varied, from the delicacy of classical oil painting to the extensiveness of modern painting. Nowadays, many painters are interested in the "expressionist" style that pays attention to the painter's inner expression. The strokes are getting bigger and bigger, and the picture is becoming more and more concise. There are many works that have removed the expression of light, and don't talk about three-dimensional sense or sense of space. They pay more attention to playing with colors, strokes and concepts.
Therefore, almost all modern painters' oil paintings have brush strokes, and some even pile the pigments very thick, and the pictures are uneven. This is also what we should pay attention to when appreciating oil paintings. Otherwise, you will be regarded as an amateur.
