What will the Olympic Games bring to the host city? In addition to the rapid changes, advanced stadiums and world fame, we will immediately think of tourism. As we all know, during the Olympic Games, the host city will welcome thousands of tourists from all over the world. The huge business opportunities brought by the Olympic Games have always attracted everyone in the tourism industry.
How big will this cake be when the 2008 Olympic Games approaches? Who will make it in what way and what will it taste like? On these issues, we invited Beijing Tourism Bureau, travel agencies, travel enthusiasts and experts in the tourism industry to discuss: What impact will the Olympic Games have on the tourism industry?
Moderator: Hello, xu teacher. As far as you know, what kind of plans does the IOC have for the development of the Olympic tourism market?
Director Xu Da of the Information Center of the Organizing Committee for the 29th Olympic Games (hereinafter referred to as Director Xu): As far as I know, Rogge 200 1 has made appropriate adjustments to the development direction of the Olympic Games after taking over as the president of the International Olympic Committee. One of the great changes is that he pays more attention to the in-depth study of the Olympic movement. One problem that the Olympic Organizing Committee is facing now is that the scale of the Olympic Games is getting bigger and bigger, and it has become a club for the rich to some extent, which makes the Olympic Games unable to develop. Therefore, Rogge set up an "Olympic Games Research Committee", and at the end of 2002, he put forward a research report-"Olympic slimming plan", which stated that the scale must be controlled to ensure the healthy development of the Olympic Games.
Moderator: So what does this plan include? What kind of influence does it have on the Olympic Games?
Director Xu: It is mentioned in the plan that the "Centennial Olympic Games" has left a precious legacy to mankind and the influence of the Olympic Games on the host city or country.
It summarizes five aspects that can embody the main functions of the Olympic Games: first, establish the international image of the host city and country; The second is to leave a stadium and a team of professionals; Third, it has strengthened people's love for sports and laid a good foundation for people to establish a healthy lifestyle; Fourth, it has enhanced the centripetal force and cohesion of a country's people; Fifth, it has promoted the development of tourism.
The Research Committee of the Olympic Committee regards tourism as one of the five legacies of the Olympic Games, which shows its status and importance. Judging from the countries and cities that have hosted the Olympic Games, I think there are three cities that play a very typical role in the development of tourism: one is Barcelona, which has improved the visibility of the city through hosting the Olympic Games, and it is undeniable that this Olympic Games has promoted the tourism economy of Spain; The second is Sydney. Australia is one of the first choice destinations for people to travel, and the Sydney Olympic Games has played a great role. The third city is Seoul, not just the Olympic Games. Since 1980s, Korea has established its international image by hosting various large-scale sports events. South Korea's practice of promoting economic and tourism development through large-scale sports activities is worth learning. From these examples, we can see that the influence of large-scale sports on the economic development of a region is obvious.
Moderator: So, as far as tourism is concerned, what impact does the Olympic Games have on it?
Director Xu: First of all, the Olympic Games itself is an exciting point and a hot spot. During the Olympic Games, it was the center of the world. Under the influence of focusing psychology, people naturally want to go to lively places, which is the charm of the Olympic Games itself; Second, the large-scale Olympic Games and heavy reception tasks will test the basic services of the host city, such as infrastructure and tourist hotels. Many cities that have hosted the Olympic Games have greatly increased their hotel investment since their successful bid for the Olympic Games.
Beijing may be an exception, because we have reminded investors many times that hotels and restaurants in Beijing have no problem meeting the needs of the Olympic Games. If you invest blindly, it is easy to form a bubble economy, which is unfavorable to the sustainable development after the Olympic Games. Third, improve the overall level of tourism facilities. Now BOCOG has signed agreements with 108 hotels, aiming at controlling prices, improving grades, creating long-term collateral effects, and promoting tourism after the Olympic Games.
Moderator: From this, we can see that BOCOG's tourism industry has begun to prepare for the Olympic Games. So, what actions or plans will we have before 2008?
Director Xu: In order to successfully host the 2008 Olympic Games, the State Sports General Administration began to strive for international individual sports events as much as possible several years ago, so as to come to Beijing to compete in 2006, 2007 and the first half of 2008. The purpose is to warm up and test whether our venues meet the requirements of the International Olympic Committee.
The unique charm of the Olympic Games itself and the corresponding organization form of large-scale activities are inextricably linked with tourism. With the success of bidding for the Olympic Games, according to the requirements of the municipal party committee and the municipal government, we formulated the planning of the Beijing Olympic Village, and the Tourism Bureau also made the planning. By 2008, the number of overseas tourists is expected to reach 4.63 million. If we are more optimistic, it may reach 5 million, and the estimated income is 2 billion US dollars, which is equivalent to the total expenditure of the entire Olympic Games. This is also an important reason why the Olympic bid is becoming more and more popular. It drives the comprehensive benefits of a city, among which tourism is the most direct and effective. I also hope that the experts and scholars present here can study how to seize the tourism opportunities around 2008 and make Beijing's tourism market have new prosperity. Including how to further transform tourist attractions, how to launch tourism products, and how to improve the level and service level.
Moderator: The Olympic Games can bring us business opportunities, but it will also bring us many problems. Next, I would like to ask Fang, director of the Planning and Statistics Department of Beijing Tourism Bureau, what preparations Beijing is making for the tourist reception of the 2008 Olympic Games?
Fang, Director of Planning and Statistics Department of Beijing Tourism Bureau (hereinafter referred to as Fang): Beijing Tourism Bureau has a reception plan. In 2005, there were 65,438+10,000 star-rated rooms in Beijing. By 2008, we promised the International Olympic Committee to reach130,000, and there are still 400,000 hotel rooms in Beijing that are not included in the star management track. According to the International Olympic Committee, the accommodation facilities can meet the requirements of 1.3 million rooms, not by expansion or new construction, but by renovation to tap the existing potential, so that some hotels and guest houses can meet the star standard through renovation and upgrading. Judging from the hotel development industry in Beijing, this capacity is completely achievable.
In 2005, the number of overseas tourists coming to Beijing reached 3,654,380+0.5 million. With the approaching of the Olympic Games, the number of overseas tourists will increase by 8% every year. By 2008, a large number of athletes, officials and spectators will come to Beijing, so in addition to the annual growth rate of 8%, the number is expected to increase by nearly 300 thousand. Judging from the accommodation facilities, the pressure is not great.
At present, we face two weaknesses. First, the infrastructure is not in line with international standards, such as whether the information service system and the city-oriented system can be accurate in accordance with international practices, such as common characters, language expressions and symbol expressions. The second is to eliminate language barriers before the 2008 Olympic Games.
Now these works have begun, such as the recent tourism development plan with the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, and the important thing in the construction of public facilities is signboards. The information system includes strengthening the environmental protection of scenic spots, and there are already plans, which will enter the implementation stage immediately. The previous work was the renovation of toilets in tourist areas, and 700 star-rated toilets were built in 200 scenic spots. After strict grade evaluation, the toilet was rebuilt according to the grade of the scenic spot. Foreign guests' complaints about tourist toilets are much less than in the past. A German media interviewed in Beijing to see what Beijing really did for the Olympic Games, and went to the scenic spot to see the toilets. From the most basic point of view, Beijing has already started to act.
Moderator: By 2008, will there be volunteers to help the hotel do something?
Director Fang: That's for sure. The government will certainly mobilize a large number of volunteers to help this work. Now we have begun to do this work.
Moderator: Before 2008, will we organize some activities to make the Olympic Games warm up slowly until the Olympic Games warm up to 100 degrees?
Director Fang: We have plans in this regard. First, we hold related activities every year, such as visiting the Olympic venues and cultural relics in Beijing, and publicize according to these themes. Secondly, 65,438+000 tourists are invited to visit our scenic spots and infrastructure in Beijing every year to publicize the preparations for the Olympic Games and invite more media to report. Every year, some international mainstream media are selected to visit China to publicize and report. Do different publicity for different markets and launch different products. The charm of a city is reflected by everyone's attention.
Moderator: From the perspective of tourism, what do you think is the biggest concern? Including the Athens Olympic Games, what can we learn from the Olympic Games?
Director Fang: From the perspective of tourism, the focus of attention is not very big, and the consideration is not very comprehensive. For example, how to grasp the reality after the game requires an effective system to seriously implement this work.
Most of the tourists who come to Beijing are elderly people, and many of them come from the south. There is a saying that in Beijing, they visit temples during the day and sleep at night. It means that the nightlife in Beijing is boring. What do you think of it, Miss Wang?
Mr. Wang Qun from the Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as Mr. Wang): The lack of nightlife in Beijing is an old problem. Now it is much better than before, and there are some entertainment activities in the evening, but generally speaking, there is still a lack of high-quality products, such as some western performing groups, which are definitely for tourists. Beijing has not grasped the difference between tourism and entertainment products and general entertainment products. It is only good at starting from its own culture, but it is not clear what the audience wants to see.
The difference between tourism entertainment products and general entertainment products is that it should be entertaining, participatory and artistic. We just reversed the order. Beijing opera and acrobatics are must-see things in Beijing now. There is also a combination of local characteristics and catering and entertainment, such as the Yunnan Song and Dance Banquet. Therefore, the creative staff should design the program from the perspective of tourists.
The Olympic Organizing Committee should control the allocation of tickets, so as to be consistent internally and externally and reasonably matched.
General Manager of China Travel Service International Citizen Tourism Headquarters (hereinafter referred to as Manager Guo): We have been engaged in outbound tourism business. Since we officially contacted the Olympic Games in 2000, we have had two actual combat experiences in the Olympic Games.
In 2008, as our own service provider, we should really pay attention to some things, first of all, tickets. The Olympic Committee has a very clear principle of ticket distribution, and all members of the Olympic family will have corresponding tickets. The first, second and third types of tickets are matched in the form of not selling all tickets in advance. For China, our domestic control over tickets will be stronger, which is also in line with the characteristics of China, and the domestic demand is greater than that of foreign countries; The second is the source of tourists for tourism enterprises. The development and reception of high-end customers require travel agencies to have strong public relations skills. Now we can't just stay at the reception level, but also cooperate with some foreign sports merchants to do some commercial development activities. As the largest festival in the world, the Olympic Games will also plan activities with foreign travel agencies, which requires strong team and planning ability and a long accumulation period. If tourism wants to make a fortune during the Olympic Games, it needs to extend traditional things.
Moderator: Today, we invite not only officials, experts and operators in the tourism industry, but also a travel enthusiast who has participated in the Athens Olympic Games. It can be said that everything you do here will serve him in the future. So, Chen Ying, you have been to Athens, talk about your feelings.
Mr. Chen Ying, a travel enthusiast: I am deeply impressed that the local subway is very humanized, and every station has elevators for the disabled; Relatively large tourist attractions are combined with the subway; The airport has a free road guide to facilitate travel; There are few service systems and volunteers along the street, so English communication is easy and there are no obstacles; People are very enthusiastic, have good service and always have a smile on their faces.
The overall impression is good, and I want to go again. The hospitality for journalists is also in place, and a lot of publicity about the city and tourism has been done. We should combine culture and sports to hold a cultural Olympics.

On the Relationship between Sports and Tourism
-
Sports travel is becoming a new journey for tourists. People feel more and more that sports should naturally join our lives, let the fun of sports fill every corner of our lives, and let us enjoy the "physical strength" and "leisure" fun of life from sports and tourism. This mutual penetration, mutual integration and mutual expansion of sports and tourism is a strategic choice for sports and tourism to accelerate their joint efforts.
First, the external performance of sports and the internal experience of tourism are the unity of spiritual entertainment.
No matter how exciting and arduous the training and competition of sports will be, its extroversion and nervousness will bring relaxed and super entertainment to participants and spectators. And the convenience of travel. Relaxing, enjoying and enriching knowledge is a mature inner experience and a huge spiritual demand, and it is also an entertainment demand for people to return to simplicity in life itself. Therefore, no matter how different the concepts of sports and tourism are, their recognition of each other is extremely strong. Namely: 1. Experience the existence of special tourism value in sports activities; 2. Feel the benefits of physical and mental health during the trip; 3. Although there are great differences between sports and tourism, people get the same pleasure from it.
Therefore, if you start from a long distance and participate in an activity directionally, the relationship between sports and tourism will gradually ensure consistency. Their combination of sports and entertainment gradually merged. Like exploring. Mountain climbing, kayaking, rafting and golf.
With the public's recognition, acceptance and creative development of sports tourism, sports tourism has become a fashion, an indispensable part of people's lives, and brought great potential commercial significance by fashion.
Second, the scale effect of commercial significance is the life of tourism, and the scale aggregation of sports provides the source of this life need. Any kind of sports events, especially outdoor large, medium and small sports activities, will bring the effect of scale tourism. In addition to its own requirements, the whole activity covers six elements: food, shelter, transportation, travel and shopping. These six demands are a kind of consumption demand, an economic demand and a kind of tourism demand. The tourism industry, which requires to be bigger, stronger and more active, has finally achieved a huge commercial scale effect through sports. For example, every Olympic Games and the recent World Cup in South Korea have attracted many fans and tourists, and in a few days, they have created tens of billions of dollars for local businesses. In 2008, when China hosted the Olympic Games, the commercial value of only one badge reached 1 100 million yuan, which attracted thousands of tourists from all over the world to visit China from the moment the bid was successful. Therefore, the collective scale of sports solves the problem for the ultimate appeal of tourism. Namely: 1. Sports activities lead to a large number of people gathering: 2. Group consumption brings tangible commercial benefits; 3. High-speed financing and short-term interest concentration satisfy the enthusiasm of tourism; 4. The scale effect of tourism is rapidly gathering in sports activities.
Therefore, tourism can obtain the rapid development and scale effect of tourism by means of the scale gathering of sports.
Thirdly, the diversification of tourism modes has adjusted the internal structure of sports and broadened the ways for sports to constantly adapt to the requirements of the times and its own development.
After tourism has become the public demand, it has comprehensively adjusted people's living conditions and lifestyles, and broadened their horizons for people's spiritual needs. As the most challenging project in human activities, sports have changed from challenging the ultimate ability of the body, from appreciating the beauty of sports to embodying collectivism and heroism through competitions. Therefore, the gradual change of sports meaning gradually deepens into a spiritual meaning, which further enriches the spiritual connotation displayed by tourism, and with the continuous development of tourism, accelerates the adjustment, enrichment and perfection of the internal structure of sports, namely: 1. With the high-quality development of economy, tourism has gradually become a universal demand of people's lives; 2. In order to meet this demand, physical education gradually enriches and perfects its connotation; 3. The structural adjustment of sports advantage projects has been vigorously promoted; With the development of tourism, sports have been innovated unprecedentedly.
In the future historical process, the entertainment of sports and tourism will be greatly enhanced. Because sports and tourism have not been fully integrated, there is still great space and opportunity for cooperation, infiltration and integration. Sports is a performance without a script, and tourism is a spiritual need without a license, but both of them contain all human performances and entertainment. The essence of enjoyment has brought people a colorful life, which is an inevitable mutual strategic choice between sports and tourism.
