A Letter to Young Teachers Dear young teachers:
Hello everyone!
A few days ago, when I was in the annual work assessment of the editorial department, I heard a young editor say: among the young teachers in the school, I focused on the Journal of Xi Jiaotong University some time ago, and everyone's comments made her feel very uncomfortable. For several years, she has been proud of her team and journals. Later, she summoned up her courage, participated in the discussion and tried her best to explain everyone's? Misunderstanding? . However, there is one question that she can't answer: it's useless to just include EI. If it's not SCI, no one will pay attention to it! ? To this end, I want to talk about my understanding and ideas in order to communicate with you.
(1) There is nothing wrong with publishing SCI papers. The school pursues academic papers to be included in SCI, and the author pursues publishing periodical papers included in SCI. I understand very well! In any case, the inclusion of SCI is a direct and efficient way to expand the school's international academic influence, not to mention that it is regarded as one of the indicators in various evaluations. ! In my opinion, SCI is just a symbol, and its meaning is international academic influence! International integration to today, no industry can say? Not communicating with the international community? And then what? Alone? Not to mention academic exchanges (except technology, of course)! As a university aiming at a high international level, it is natural to put itself on the international stage to show and compete. The academic influence of the school is naturally composed of the academic influence of each teacher, so the task of expanding the international influence of the school falls to each teacher. One of them is? Highlights? The task is to publish papers in SCI journals.
(2)SCI inclusion is not the purpose. As I mentioned earlier, the goal of the school is to enhance international academic influence, and SCI is only one of the direct and efficient ways. If you pursue simple SCI inclusion, you may go astray. As far as my periodical publishing industry is concerned, it is very dangerous for everyone to publish English periodicals one after another and even pursue SCI periodicals by hook or by crook. I think: expanding international influence needs an international platform, but it is too simplistic just for SCI inclusion. From the perspective of academic influence, it is undoubtedly the most effective way to show academic influence with the help of the existing academic platform recognized by international peers, and there is no need to build another platform. What if it's on your own platform? Performing? If it were easier, the platform would have little international influence, even if it was included in SCI. The purpose of publishing international journals (English) is to fight for the right to speak in international academic exchanges and build a stage that can be recognized by international peers and controlled by us. Building an international stage and publishing international papers are two interrelated and different issues.
(3) years of SCI entanglement. The journal 1997 came out from the source of EI, and the whole school was in an uproar, because EI's retrieval index was then? Very important? . By 1998, the whole country has already started after this magazine re-entered? Have a crush on it? Thanks, SCI. School leaders have asked me for a log many times? Should I enter the source of SCI journals? For the goal, but no one considered: is it possible! If possible, in what form! ? My answer is: impossible. If you want to enter the source of SCI journals, you can't run journals like this, but you must run journals according to the inclusion standards of SCI. Slowly, no one will directly ask the Journal of Xi Jiaotong University to enter? Source of SCI publication? For the goal. In 2009, the school leaders made it clear that the editing goal was to establish 1 2 kinds of academic journals with international influence. ? I won't say? Give whatever you want. Hard conditions (the English version of Journal of Xi Jiaotong University published at that time was funded by 80,000 yuan, and an editor was struggling to maintain it) Simply put: How does a high-level academic journal operate and publish? ! From an international point of view, it is not impossible but difficult to publish a high-level academic journal as an outsider, either by the enthusiasm and active input of academic leaders or by the brand operation of high-input publishing houses, at least I can't do it (except by abnormal means). Look, the history of academic journals published at home and abroad will believe: people? Only see the glory of the successful people on the stage without seeing the hardships behind the glory? ! We usually use? As a dowry for others? For example, editing, I think this is not accurate. Editors here mainly refer to full-time editors like me. The so-called full-time is an editor who takes this as his profession. Since it is my own profession, how can I make wedding makeup for others? What kind of professional is not serving others, if so? Marry someone? Still full time? Embroidered mother? ! ? Wedding makeup for people? Editors should refer to those academic scholars who can make a wedding dress for themselves instead of becoming editors of other peers? Dowry? . Is there such a high level behind the world's high-level academic journals? Marry someone? Scholar editing, this kind of editing is respectable! I mean: a high-level academic journal cannot be separated from the input of the editor-in-chief!
(4) Orientation of Journal of Jiaotong University. The orientation of Journal of Xi Jiaotong University has always been persistence? Expand academic influence with domestic and foreign resources and serve teaching and scientific research with the influence of periodicals? . Teachers are the main force of the school, and we are the guarantee team of the school. A leader once suggested that I strive for a rule in the school at the assessment debriefing meeting: every doctoral supervisor must publish a manuscript in the journal every year. ? This suggestion was flatly rejected by me on the spot! My reason is that teachers should be encouraged and assisted to publish excellent scientific research results in schools. The higher the better? In order to gain greater academic influence for the school, if it is published in its own journal, it will support the journal but cause the loss of academic influence of the school. The process of transforming the influence of periodicals into the influence of schools is bound to decline. I think this practice is inefficient for both schools and teachers. University journals should strive to train our students (authors), including our young teachers, through the stage of journals. When it has a certain strength, it should win glory for the school on the international stage! Perhaps, you will find my position a bit? Depression? And I think the way to realize my own value is to be confident and loyal to my career and pursue my reasonable position. Perhaps, we can't get flowers and appreciation. What can we do? Just like you are a teacher who teaches undergraduates conscientiously, we all shoulder the responsibility of educating people! This is also one of the characteristics that distinguish university journals from professional journals.
(5) How to make use of university journals? Although the Journal of Xi Jiaotong University has received many contributions, it has been very distressed: the rejection rate has remained above 75%, while the high-impact contributions are still relatively few. That's why one of my young editors is eager to ask your advice. Everyone wants to get a high-quality manuscript source, and my editor is no exception, but you don't contribute to my journal, and I don't encourage our teacher to demote and publish in it. To this end, my editor also complained: what to do with magazines! In my opinion, only in this difficult situation can we show the initiative of our editors and our level and value in the university. Our slogan is: create first-class influence with second-rate manuscript sources! Fortunately, Journal of Xi Jiaotong University ranks third among 25 kinds of university journals sponsored by C9 universities (only academic indicators). For five years in a row, he won the title of national high-quality sci-tech periodicals in colleges and universities, and won the title of national high-quality sci-tech periodicals in successive years; It ranks in the top 10% in the international influence index of national sci-tech periodicals (including more than 200 English periodicals), ranking about 300, and has been awarded by China Academic Journals Evaluation Center for three consecutive years? China Sci-tech Journals: Excellent Journals with International Academic Influence? Title. Our approach is: 1) No matter whether the manuscript is on campus or off campus, the academic level is treated equally. We don't take the problem of expression as the reason for rejecting the manuscript in the school, and strive to revise the general paper into an excellent one through our peer review organization; 2) Study the law of network communication and the expression of scientific research achievements, and improve the logic, clarity and theory of the achievements by editing the expression of the papers, especially suitable for network retrieval and shallow reading; 3) Encourage innovation, especially young people's bold exploration and innovation, provide a publishing platform for the initial results of exploration in new fields, and create an innovative environment (please indicate your concern for submission); 4) be rigorous and realistic, and influence the authors who deal with us with our style of study. What we are most proud of are the comments made by reviewers, readers and authors? Inherited the rigorous and realistic style of study of Jiaotong University? !
We are proud that our school has 14 science and engineering students? Changjiang scholar? More than 50% people? The first novel? It was published in Journal of Xi Jiaotong University (August 2009), and we hope it can be used in the future. Changjiang scholar? Release more? The first novel? Contribute our strength to the glory of Xi Jiaotong University. We sincerely hope that we can leave our footprints on your road before you take off. Although our editors work hard, they also know that their level and ability are limited, and we are willing to grow up with the vast number of young authors! On the occasion of the new year, I wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe family!

A Letter to Young Teachers: Rereading To Young Teachers;
A 60-year-old man, with one eye closed and one eye open, was in tears and insisted on giving the students the last class. After going to the hospital, he went blind in one eye. This old man is none other than Wu Fei, a teacher who is deeply loved by students and respected by us. He has bid farewell to his beloved podium.
"To Young Teachers" is Wu Fei's farewell work. I was lucky enough to read this book recently. In the book, Mr. Wu gave his more than 30 years of educational experience to the other party, gave detailed answers to the problems encountered by our young teachers in education and teaching, and admonished some details that everyone might ignore in teaching. The most important thing is to hope that young teachers will not give up their educational conscience under any circumstances and do something beneficial to this nation and worthy of the future.
There is such a sentence in the book that makes me deeply touched: children not only want to have a perfect answer sheet in the college entrance examination, but more importantly, in today's somewhat grandiose era, when children retire from childishness and leave the high school campus, they will have the courage to face difficulties, an optimistic and sunny attitude towards things, and a positive and upright attitude towards things. ?
Teachers are not only people who preach and teach, but more importantly, they are guides for children's spiritual growth and people who teach children how to be human.
First of all, I want to be a teacher with true feelings.
In my first year on the podium, I never smiled easily in front of the children in order to establish prestige in front of them. I remember once a girl quietly asked me: Miss Guo, why don't you ever laugh? I hope you can smile more! ? Indeed, the result of not laughing can make children fear me, but more importantly, children and I have opened a distance.
As Mr. Wu said, the expression of true feelings is the most beautiful emotion in human nature. As a teacher, it is to teach students to be a person with true feelings, not a person who is indifferent, indifferent and indifferent to anyone and anything. The ultimate goal of education is to cultivate real people. Therefore, as a teacher and their head teacher, I am not only a knowledge disseminator, but also a guide to guide children to pay attention to the best feelings in human nature and discover the truth, goodness and beauty at an age when their values have not yet formed and their thoughts are independent but immature.
Now, out of confusion, I can show my emotions generously in front of my children. When they are happy, I also laugh with them without hesitation; When a child shows kindness, even if it is a small matter, I will be the first to express my feelings and appreciation. I will use my true feelings to guide my children to become kind and tolerant people.
Secondly, I want to be a model teacher.
Pay attention to details. Set an example and be a teacher? It is the eternal criterion of teachers' behavior. I should pay attention to the details in my words and deeds and show my enthusiasm, because enthusiasm is not only infected, but also the most basic quality that an excellent teacher must have. Show a good attitude, show your love, care and respect, because attitude will affect.
On weekdays, I will dress neatly and behave in a civilized manner, because children will observe and appreciate. When I raise the national flag, I will stand and pay attention, because the children also pay attention to my love and faith. I often pick up the scraps of paper around me, clean the blackboard myself, and turn off the lights when I leave the classroom, because children will learn from their teachers imperceptibly.
I also pay attention to punctuality and keep my promises. I always come to the classroom early, and I never drag my class to occupy the classroom. I keep my promise to my children, and as long as I say it, it will be realized. Guide children to be as honest and trustworthy as teachers.
This is what Wu Fei's "To Young Teachers" has brought me some thoughts to be continued. Too many articles have inspired me too much, and I still have a lot to do. I am willing to continue to taste this book after work and taste this career that will accompany me all my life.
A Letter to Young Teachers: Thoughts on Reading to Young Teachers by Fan Wensan;
To Young Teachers is a collection of short educational essays that have influenced many teachers. This book is a collection of 85 articles by Wu Fei (Wang Dongsheng), covering school management, classroom teaching, moral cultivation, curriculum construction, educational evaluation, students' minds and many other aspects. The article is short and pithy, with meaningful words and great inspiration. This book is written for young teachers, but it is worth reading carefully by every educator.
First, love the students you teach.
A qualified teacher must be full of love. China ancient teachers called students? Disciple? That is, teachers treat students as their brothers or sons and treat them like relatives. Although great changes have taken place in society and subversive changes have taken place in schools and courses, this relationship between teachers and students should not be changed.
In a utilitarian society, it is more and more difficult to love students as much as you love your own children and younger brothers. A few days ago, it was reported by the media that two kindergartens in Xi 'an have been feeding their children for six consecutive years. Viral spirit? Prescription drugs to improve children's attendance and ensure kindergarten income. Such a teacher is completely immoral and blasphemes the title of teacher. I don't know whether the biological children of these teachers are studying in these two kindergartens and whether they are allowed to take this prescription drug.
A student who thinks of himself as one of his own? Disciple? A good teacher will at least respect his students like an ordinary person. He will care about students' inner feelings, will not yell at students easily, and will not abuse children. When grading students' papers, he will think that these scores will be seen by class representatives and students around him. If a student's grades are not satisfactory, it will make him feel embarrassed and embarrassed to distribute test papers in this way. When talking to students, what do you think of? Can you come to my office for a moment? The weight behind this sentence will remind students of the possible anxiety in their hearts. If you have time, would you like to come to my office to play, so as not to bring unnecessary tension to the students? When the bell rings, do you think many students will come during the break? Fight for it? Toilet resources, if dragged on for a few minutes, may make children unable to relax themselves during recess, and may even make children develop a bad habit of being late for class; When students like themselves very much, can you tell whether they like me or the subjects I teach? A student will meet many teachers in the process of learning. If he just likes me, it may lead to the collapse of students after changing teachers. It is necessary to guide students from liking teachers to liking subjects. When a student is late in the morning or has any abnormal behavior, he should understand the hard work of the child's study and homework, and don't be sarcastic, sarcastic or even punished on the basis that he already feels guilty. Killing chickens for monkeys? Become emotional? Have a good time?
A student who thinks of himself as one of his own? Disciple? Our teachers will pay great attention to their words and deeds and strive to become civilized people, thus influencing their students subtly. When he opens or closes the door, he will check whether there are people before and after, so as not to meet others. The sound of closing the door is very light and won't come out. Bang? Sound; He walks in the place where he studies, and won't let his high heels or leather shoes with nails make harsh sounds and interfere with others' thinking. He won't smoke and spit in front of students, and he won't throw all kinds of sundries everywhere. He won't let his desk be full of all kinds of things. When he won't clean the classroom again, he only organizes students to wash the classroom with water and keep the dirty mud flowing in the corridor or corridor; He won't lose his temper at a sports meeting because his class ranking didn't reach the expected goal, and take the whole class to find referee ethics, which will cause an uproar in the whole school; He doesn't just ask students to study hard, he has hardly read any books. He only asks students to do exercises carefully, but he can't do this set of broadcast exercises himself.
It is not difficult to educate students. Growth is a child's own business. What we have to do is to create a suitable environment and caring atmosphere for their healthy growth.
Second, love your major.
A qualified teacher is full of love for the teaching profession, especially for the subjects he teaches. Because he is full of love, he will devote himself wholeheartedly to it. Rafe, an American middle school teacher who came to China to give lectures recently, is one of the representatives. Teachers who love and cherish their majors will get the pleasure of teaching and living from their subjects. A teacher who doesn't even love his major can't be an excellent teacher.
Teachers who love their majors will often examine their educational ideas, whether they follow the characteristics of students' physical and mental development and educational laws, and whether they reflect the direction of educational reform. Over the past 30 years since the reform and opening up, we have invested more in education than ever before, and the teaching facilities and conditions of schools have also undergone earth-shaking changes, but few educators have appeared. Maybe the problem lies in the concept of education. What is education? Slow? In our career, the growth of children is like planting trees and crops. It is impossible to sow today and reap tomorrow. However, our education often can't wait, and neither can our teachers. I hope that children will stand out from themselves as soon as possible.
Teachers who love their major generally have a conscious awareness of studying in Germany. Learning in normal colleges only provides teachers with the basis of teaching, and a lot of practical wisdom and understanding of children's physical and mental development characteristics are obtained in teaching posts. The teaching profession is a profession that needs continuous learning and lifelong learning. Only by persistently strengthening study and constantly improving one's professional ethics and discipline accomplishment can one be competent for a teacher's job. However, nowadays, many teachers have basically given up their studies after joining the work. Apart from teaching supplementary books, they don't study all year round, and they are often forced to take part in teacher training to cope with their poor mentality. Some teachers are very disgusted with the ever-changing teaching materials and curriculum standards, because these changes mean that they have to prepare lessons again, which brings them a lot of trouble.
Teachers who love their major are very concerned about the frontier of discipline development. He is not only familiar with the basic structure and internal system of the discipline he is engaged in, but also knows some key events and representatives in the development of the discipline. He also understands that today's society is changing with each passing day, and new knowledge is emerging all the time. He will integrate the new discoveries and new progress in the discipline and the hot and difficult issues that everyone is concerned about in the development of the discipline into his own teaching in time, so that students can always breathe with the development of society. One of the biggest drawbacks of current subject teaching is that subject knowledge is divorced from life practice. Physics teaches students the discoveries and knowledge a hundred years ago, and mathematics is immersed in numbers and symbols. Children don't know what they are learning this knowledge for, and naturally they can't stimulate their passion for learning.
Teachers who love their major generally have deep humanistic feelings. They will convey their joy and passion for the subject to students and let them feel the beauty of the subject. They pay special attention to the intersection and connection between disciplines, so that students can realize that the whole world is a complex. Just because of the convenience of learning, they artificially divided several disciplines. They usually have a broad vision, pay attention to various phenomena and problems around them, and can communicate with students in many ways, so that children can distinguish truth, goodness and beauty. What a teacher can be remembered by students is often not a certain class he attended or a certain knowledge point he taught, but usually the teacher's humanistic care for him. A chat in a depressed moment, a smile in an awkward situation, a broadening of horizons after school, and a demonstration of life.
Wu Fei said in his book that a qualified teacher must have three basic qualities: a thinker, a learner and a practitioner. Among them, repeating your own teaching round after round will not make you a yogi. Because students are changing, the requirements of curriculum standards are also changing. As teachers, we should treat each class as a newly-opened class, study students carefully, study teaching materials carefully, and jointly design teaching methods and processes. Teacher Yu Yi said? Be a lifelong teacher and learn to be a lifelong teacher. ? This is a famous saying of an education practitioner, and it is also the basic quality that a person who loves the teaching profession should have.
Third, love your school.
A very important platform for the realization of teachers' educational ideals is the school. Everything in the school is an educational factor, which exerts a subtle influence on the growth of students. A qualified teacher must be a teacher who loves the school and leads students to love the school together. Only when both teachers and students like school life can this school be truly successful.
If you love your school, you will pay attention to studying whether the various facilities, flowers and trees of the school serve the purpose of educating people, and you will think about what you can contribute to the better construction of this school. Everyone is a builder of the school. This awareness and action of all teachers and students participating in school management will not only bring about the transformation of education from management to governance, but also make every grass and tree on campus more in line with the purpose of education and effectively play the role of educating people. In his book, Mr. Wu Fei said that he likes to sit on campus and admire the thriving trees during the holidays, think about who planted these books and what was his intention at that time, and tell his students his thoughts so that everyone can find meaning together. With this discussion and search, the trees on campus have different meanings in the eyes of children.
If you love your school, you will pay attention to the school's goals, school motto, articles of association and other laws and regulations related to the school's direction, as well as various slogans in the school to see if it conforms to the educational laws and is conducive to the physical and mental growth of students. There are many famous schools around us, but when it comes to these famous schools, people often feel a lot about their past, but say little about their present. Famous schools are famous because they embody the spirit of the times in a certain historical period. However, what these famous schools can tell others today is often only the results of the college entrance examination. And all kinds of slogans shouted to encourage students to enter a good school, if carefully studied, are often contrary to educational common sense.
If you love your school, you will pay attention to the school curriculum and see if you can achieve the educational goal of all-round development of students. For example, is the student's physique because the school seriously implements it? Exercise for an hour every day? With the guarantee, children not only actively participate in sports activities, but also form the habit of sticking to their favorite sports. For example, students' aesthetic ability and whether there is an overall training plan have been effectively implemented in all grades, and the improvement of students' artistic literacy has been effectively guaranteed; For example, students' habit of loving labor has been observed through the school curriculum, and many things in the school are completed by students through their own personal labor. In primary schools in Japan, from cooking to the layout and arrangement of canteens, children are basically the mainstay. But in today's schools, how many classes have their own health responsibility areas and can still insist on attending labor classes for a certain time every week? When students are enthusiastic every day? Model United Nations? When they are keen on debating contests and speech contests, they can't even clean their classrooms and campuses. Can you expect them to really contribute to international affairs and social affairs?
Love your school is not just a slogan, but can be implemented through one specific thing. How are we doing in this regard?
