What is the constitution of TCM?
Constitution of TCM refers to the sum of essence, qi and spirit of a person (individual life). Traditional Chinese medicine believes that physique is formed on the basis of innate endowment, acquired in the course of human life, and has comprehensive and relative internal characteristics of morphological structure (essence), physiological function (qi) and psychological state (spirit). It is a personality characteristic formed in the process of human growth and development to adapt to the natural and social environment, which is characterized by individual differences in morphological structure, functional metabolism and external stimuli, susceptibility to certain causes and diseases, and a certain tendency to spread and prognosis of diseases. This physical feature will be reflected in the process of health and disease either implicitly or explicitly.

The constitution of traditional Chinese medicine has its own characteristics compared with that of western medicine. All kinds of constitution classification theories of western medicine mostly belong to the study of the relationship between modern psychology and western medicine anatomy, lacking the analysis of the correlation between individual morphological characteristics, physiological functions and pathological development, and still in the induction stage, so the guiding value for clinical practice such as medical health preservation and disease prevention is very limited. Compared with the concept of constitution in western medicine, the classification of constitution in traditional Chinese medicine is based on the theory of Yin and Yang and the overall concept of traditional Chinese medicine, with the life concept of "the unity of form and spirit" and the overall concept of "the unity of man and nature" as the starting point, and the human characteristics considered are more comprehensive, taking into account the influence factors such as congenital, acquired, environment (including social environment and natural environment) and universe. This paper makes a more detailed analysis of different types of people from the aspects of yin and yang, exterior and interior attributes, virtual and real attributes, cold and heat attributes, qi and blood attributes, meridian attributes, physical and mental attributes, etc., so that the obtained physical analysis can better reflect the essence of things, and its relatively complete theoretical system can be directly applied to TCM health rehabilitation and medical practice to prevent people from getting sick before they get sick. It is more practical to adjust the body and dredge the collaterals in the four seasons.

Traditional Chinese medicine divides constitution into many kinds. At present, the classification method of Professor Wang Qi from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine is widely adopted by major Chinese medicine hospitals. After comprehensive analysis, he divided different types of people into nine constitutions: peace, qi deficiency, yang deficiency, yin deficiency, phlegm-dampness, damp-heat, blood stasis, qi stagnation and idiosyncrasy. Among them, peaceful people are relatively healthy and are not easy to get sick. The other eight constitutions are all manifestations of imbalance of qi, blood and yin and yang in the body, and they are easy to suffer from different types of diseases, which are collectively called partial constitutions.
