Westernization Movement and Meiji Restoration were the beginnings of modernization in China and Japan respectively, but there were great differences.

Meiji Restoration advocated the establishment of a capitalist country with constitutional monarchy, and Westernization Movement advocated the use of Westernization Movement to maintain the feudal rule of the Qing government.

Different leadership classes, Meiji Restoration was led by middle and lower class warriors and bourgeois new landlords and businessmen, and Westernization Movement was led by bureaucratic landlords of Qing government.

The results were different. Meiji Restoration made Japan get rid of the national crisis, made the country rich and strong, and the Westernization Movement finally failed.

Different in nature, Meiji Restoration was a bourgeois revolution, and Westernization Movement was a reform of the feudal landlord class.
