In word 2007, why does my automatically generated directory automatically indent two characters per line? How to get rid of it?
The reason for this is that there are format restrictions where the directory is inserted, and the first line indentation is set in the style.

Adjustment method: in the style, find "Text", right-click "Modify", find "Format"-"Paragraph" and cancel the indentation inside.

Note: Be sure to pay attention to the style where the directory is inserted, try to clear the style there and use the body style.
