Mainly engaged in hydraulic engineering and hydraulics research, presided over and participated in the completion of key hydraulic technologies of multi-stage shiplock of Three Gorges Project, experimental research on optimization of operation mode of miter gate hydraulic hoist of Three Gorges Shiplock, research on hydraulics and structure of high-head multi-stage shiplock, research on scale influence of hydraulic model of shiplock and its correction method, development and research of flood control and disaster reduction decision system based on GIS, and introduction and application of three-dimensional PIV speed measuring system. "Research on Key Technologies of Shiplock Water Delivery System of Xijiang Channel" and other national scientific and technological breakthroughs in the Seventh Five-Year Plan, the Eighth Five-Year Plan and the Ninth Five-Year Plan, the scientific and technological innovation of the Ministry of Water Resources and more than 50 projects entrusted by the "948", the Western Science and Technology of the Ministry of Communications, the National Natural Science Foundation and large-scale projects have achieved many creative scientific research achievements and solved many technical problems in large-scale national water conservancy and waterway projects.

Won the second prize of national science and technology progress 1 item, 2 first prizes of provincial and ministerial level science and technology progress, 2 second prizes, 3 rd prize of provincial science and technology progress 1 item, 4 first prizes of Nanjing Academy of Water Sciences, 6 second prizes and 2 national excellent thesis prizes. He has written more than 70 scientific research reports and published papers, participated in writing 2 monographs, presided over and participated in writing 1 specifications and standards.

At present, the scientific research projects include: the National Eleventh Five-Year Science and Technology Support Plan Project "Research on Dam Break Test and Simulation Technology", the Ministry of Science and Technology Project "Research on Long-term Dynamic Safety Monitoring and Early Warning Technology of Dam Hydraulics", the Ministry of Water Resources Project "948" Project "Decision Support System for Watershed Water Resources and Flood Management", the Ministry of Communications Western Science and Technology Project "Research on Key Technologies of Western Ultra-high Head navigation structure" and the Jiangsu Provincial Project "Analysis of Characteristic Water Level of Jiangsu Provincial Trunk Waterway Network".
