Simple Teaching of automotive wiring harness 3D Design Software CATIA (1)
Hello everyone ~ It's a great honor to have the opportunity to share with you the usage of automotive wiring harness 3D design software catia.

I graduated in July 15, and have been engaged in design and development in automotive wiring harness for more than four years, specifically as a product engineer, with a certain basic knowledge of wiring harness. The most commonly used software for product engineers is VESYS, which is the CAD and 2D design software for wire harness, and CATIA is the commonly used software for automotive wiring harness 3D engineers. Out of my interest in CATIA, I found that there is little information about the three-dimensional design of wire harness on the Internet, so I compiled some self-study experiences here.

First of all, I believe many beginners don't know much about automotive wiring harness. If they don't know the structure of the wiring harness, it is difficult to draw it even if they can use CATIA.

Automotive wiring harness is defined by Baidu Encyclopedia as: automotive wiring harness is the network subject of automobile circuit, and there is no automobile circuit without wiring harness. The wiring harness refers to the assembly that uses wires and cables to press the contact terminals (connectors) made of copper, and then presses the insulators or adds a metal shell outside, and forms a connecting circuit by bundling the wiring harness. The harness industry chain includes wires and cables, connectors, processing equipment, harness manufacturing and downstream application industries. The wire harness is widely used in automobiles, household appliances, computers and communication equipment, and various electronic instruments and meters. The body harness connects the whole body and is generally H-shaped. I add that automotive wiring harness is similar to human nerve, and it plays the role of conducting signals and electric energy. The importance of the car is self-evident. If there is an open circuit somewhere, the car may even fail to start. Is this analogy a bit conceptual?

Next, we need to install CATIA on our computer, specifically V5R20 or V5R2 1. You can download the installation package and installation tutorial yourself. I want to remind you that R2 1 is an advanced version of R20, which is more compatible. Can be installed according to their own conditions, no matter which version can be used for wiring harness design. After installing CATIA, I need to have a general understanding of the software. Before learning software modules, I taught CATIA for a semester in my senior year. It doesn't matter if you haven't studied it. I provide a self-study website (/list.aspx? Cid=448). Because of the powerful function of CATIA, you can only design the wiring harness if you know the most basic commands. In the process of learning CATIA, I suggest focusing on three modules, namely:

This module needs to be studied, because many complex parts are broken down into simple parts, and the wiring harness is not included. Automotive wiring harness includes wires, connectors, buckles, rubber sleeves, terminals, waterproof plugs, etc. When we draw a wire harness, we often need a digital model of the connector buckle. Most connectors like TE can be found in official website. If there is no digital model, we need to use the module of part design to draw the connector buckle. Although it is not particularly accurate, the approximate appearance size should be accurate, because it involves interference, and you will gradually understand it later.

In this module, I usually use the existing component commands under the product view command and the operation and capture commands under the product structure tool command. Among them, the function of the existing command is to import other data into the existing product, and the operation and capture command can move the imported data to the required location.

I am still learning this module, and I will share my learning experience with you slowly in the future. According to the 3D God around me, this module is also very important, so everyone should study hard ~
