Taining Geopark is a comprehensive geological park with typical young Danxia landform as the main body and volcanic rocks, granite, structural landforms and other geological relics as the carrier, which integrates scientific investigation, popular science education, sightseeing and leisure.
The natural ecology in the area is good. The magical and exquisite water Danxia, deep and quiet canyons winding, Danxia caves all over secluded areas, strange peaks and rocks, and spectacular granite landforms are integrated into the primitive and quaint natural ecology, forming a unique natural landscape system.
The origin of the name "Danxia";
The biggest difficulty in applying for the Danxia landform is: "Landform is a geographical and geological concept, but' Danxia landform' is only named by China scholars and has not been recognized by international geosciences." The stratum where Danxia landform is located has been determined by international geosciences and is called "red stratum".
Promoting learning by applying for heritage is one of the achievements that China scholars hope to achieve. However, foreign experts believe that there is no shortcut to science, and it is only natural to establish the international academic status of Danxia landform by publishing papers in international authoritative journals, and then apply for world heritage with Danxia landform. After discussion at the meeting, a compromise scheme was finally adopted, and the name of "Danxia Landform" in the application name was changed to "Danxia, China".
