The difference between the core of statistical sources and the core of science and technology
The difference between statistical source core and scientific and technological core can be understood from different scopes, different fields and different gold contents.

1, with different scope: statistical source journals are only one of the core journals in China. Core journals include domestic and international journals, whose scope is much larger than that of statistical source journals, and the number of journals included is also more. In other words, the statistical source journals are only included in the CSTPCD database, which is the full name of the statistical source journals of scientific papers in China, also known as the scientific core or scientific core. Core journals are journals included in all core databases.

2. Different fields: statistical source journals only include domestic natural science academic journals, and core journals include academic journals in all fields. For example, cscd includes domestic academic journals in natural sciences, cssci includes domestic academic journals in humanities and social sciences, sci includes global academic journals in natural sciences, ssci includes global academic journals in social sciences, and ahci includes global academic journals in humanities and arts.

3. Different gold content: Statistical source journals belong to domestic core journals, and their gold content is lower than that of domestic cscd, cssci and Peking University core journals. Generally speaking, the international gold content of sci, ssci and ahci is higher than the domestic core, and the gold content of ei and scopus is equivalent to cscd and cssci. At present, the gold content of some cscd and cssci journals is equivalent to that of sci and ssci, depending on the definition standards of each unit.

Pay attention to rational use

Both core journals and statistical source journals use qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods to evaluate academic journals objectively and fairly, thus becoming a more recognized periodical evaluation tool in China at present. However, core journals and statistical source journals are only a relative statistical concept, and there is no absolute quantitative index. Their research results can be used as a reference tool to evaluate academic research results and readers' contributions, but if they are used as absolute standards to measure the level of papers, there may be fallacies.

Personally, the academic level of every paper published in core journals or statistical source journals is not necessarily high, and the academic level of every article published in non-core journals and non-statistical source journals is not necessarily low. Subject experts should be invited to evaluate the academic value of the paper according to the specific situation of the evaluation project. Therefore, when using the two periodic tables, we should avoid exaggerating the adverse effects caused by their functions.
