Uygur folk songs are extremely rich, and their contents can be divided into two parts: traditional folk songs and Xinmin songs. Traditional folk songs include love songs, labor songs, historical songs and life customs songs. On June 7th, 2008, Uygur folk songs were approved by the State Council to be included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
