We all know that Tang is a romantic genius. He is frivolous, arrogant, rebellious and vulgar. He is keen on seeking beauty and sleeping with flowers, and he is also a great writer and calligrapher. Up to now, there are still endless movies and TV shows about classics reading's love affair, and his calligraphy and painting are the favorite of collectors from all walks of life, which is of great value. What many people don't know is that Tang Yin was not born a degenerate. In the end, he chose an eccentric lifestyle because the orthodox system closed the door to him and ordered him to leave, but he was abandoned in the mainstream society of the Ming Dynasty. Its root lies in Tang Yin himself, because he left a big scar on his body at a young age. This shameful life stain, expressed in modern words, is cheating in the college entrance examination.
Later generations think that Tang Yin's cheating in the examination room is unfair, which is caused by the psychology of hiding shame for fame. Some people are determined by good thinking and want to know how a talented person like Tang Bohu can cheat. -The imperial examinations in the Ming Dynasty were quite difficult, and people who failed in the face of extremely difficult stereotyped writing were everywhere. If we look at the truth of the incident, we will understand that Tang Bohu's criminal detention is totally self-inflicted and not wronged at all.
Tang Bohu was smart and studious since childhood, and became a scholar in Wuzhong (Suzhou). His road to fame is bright. In the autumn of the 11th year of Hongzhi (AD 1498), Tang Yin went to Nanjing to take the provincial examination, and won the first place in high school and the "Xie Yuan", which was called "Tang Jieyuan" in history. As a matter of fact, once after having obtained the provincial examination, Tang Yin took part in cheating, but was not found. This situation will be described in detail below.
Xie Yuan, who won the first prize, made Tang Bohu famous in Nanjing and his hometown Suzhou. In the following spring and March, he rushed to Beijing happily to take the exam. In people's eyes, Tang Jieyuan's trip to Beijing will be a success, and he will be the number one scholar. At that time, in the Ming Dynasty, from Suzhou to Beijing, he took the waterway, took a boat north along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, turned to Weihe River and Baihe River, and rippled thousands of miles to Beijing. In order to save money, weightlifters share an extra boat and exchange views on the way. Tang Yin and his good friend Xu Jing share a room and walk hand in hand. This Xu Gongzi family has 10,000 mu of fertile land and belongs to the rich second generation in Jiangnan. He and Tang Bohu have always been friends of poetry and wine. Four years ago, Xu Jing took the exam in Nanjing Province, bribed the examiner at that time with his family's money, got the test questions in advance, and asked Tang Yin what to do. Therefore, he won the 4th1in the provincial examination, and thanked Tang Bohu afterwards. Of course, this time, Tang Bohu only helped his friend, but he acted as a "gunman", which is enough to show one of his qualities.
This time, they arrived in Beijing in the same boat and stayed in an inn. With the approaching of the examination date, Xu Jing did the same thing according to the road number when he obtained the provincial examination. With a large sum of money, he found the principal of the senior high school entrance examination, Cheng, and got the title of senior high school entrance examination. Go back to the inn and try to write with Tang Yin. According to Tang Bohu's understanding of Xu Jing, he is not completely ignorant of the origin of this topic, but is in cahoots with it. -Later generations thought that Tang Yin was wronged. It is in this paragraph that the reason is that at that time, like today's college entrance examination candidates, candidates often find some simulation questions to answer before the college entrance examination, so they insist that Tang Bohu didn't know that the questions brought by Xu Jing were examination questions, only as simulation questions. Let's accept this statement, then please look down on the development of things.
Tang Yin entered the examination room and the examination questions were handed out. He looked intently, and the topic was exactly the same as the one that Xu Jing answered with him a few days ago. At this moment, clever Tang Yin won't still don't understand the truth? Where is the manly spirit of talent and arrogance? Tang Yin was silent, because he had already done this problem, so it is conceivable that he successfully completed the examination paper almost effortlessly, handed it to the examiner and roared off.
How did it come to light? Among Tang Yin's friends from Suzhou, there is also a fellow examinee named Du Mu, who is a poor boy with his head down and his legs upright and studying hard. One day after the exam, Tang Bohu was very relaxed, invited Du Mu to have dinner and drink together, and inadvertently told Du Mu that he and Xu Jing had got the exam questions in advance. Du Mu is a really diligent scholar, and a poor student who earns both fame and fortune by his skill. How can he calmly put up with this unfair means of competition to gain fame with family money? While waiting for the court to announce the list, Du Mu went to North Korea to visit Assistant Minister Ma, and an official from the Ministry of Rites also went to Ma's house. Three officials talked about the exam and praised Tang Yin, the first talented person in Jiangnan, for really standing out. It is estimated that this "Huiyuan" belongs to him. Hearing this, Du Mu was more unbalanced. In a fit of pique, he revealed to Assistant Minister Ma how much he had spent on this topic and how he and Tang Yin had done it beforehand. On the seat, the minister who advised China officials but was responsible for supervision and protest later wrote a memorial and reported it to the emperor with the title of "Examiner Cheng". Hearing this, Xiaozong was furious and immediately ordered Cheng to suspend marking and revoke the position of the principal of the examination for disposal. Royal Guards quickly arrested swindlers Xu Jing and Tang Yin.
Tang Bohu never dreamed that he would go to Beijing to take the exam this time, but he was not on the list. On the contrary, he was imprisoned for having an affair with Xu Jing, and he suffered a lot. Tang Bohu's good friend Zhu Yunming later wrote an epitaph for Tang Yin: "The rich family has accepted it, and the son is afraid to stop arguing and be punished together." "Master" refers to Xu Jing. Xu Jing has admitted that "Wei Zi" is Tang Yin, and these are his exact words. Tang Yin no longer pleaded, and they accepted the punishment together. The case was quickly closed, and both Xu Jing and Tang Yin were deprived of their scholar status, and deprived of their qualification to take the imperial examination for life. In the 13th year of Hongzhi (AD 1500), he was returned to his hometown in Suzhou. The result, for Tang Bohu, is lucky enough, even the court spared him as an accessory. However, scholars pay more attention to the fame of a lifetime. Even if a talented person did such a nasty thing, Tang Yin's reputation was greatly damaged. It is said that Tang Yin, who returned to Suzhou despondently, disappeared from the appearance of a gifted scholar in the south of the Yangtze River. "His eyebrows have changed, and he is ashamed."
It was this scandal that completely changed Tang Yan's life. Tang Yin, who is very self-aware, knows that from now on, his official career and fame will say goodbye to him forever. The ancients said that life is "three immortals", that is, "there is virtue on the top, meritorious service on the bottom, and insight on the bottom." "Virtue" and "merit" are obviously out of touch with themselves, and "speech" is also blocked by the lack of virtue. In the case of poverty, Tang Bohu decided to find another way to show others through being different and bohemian, and to show you a different life image. In fact, Tang Bohu really made a legendary life with his romantic life. But no matter how impressive and deeply rooted in people's hearts, we may not be able to offset or ignore his personality defects because of his contempt for practical utility (in fact, Tang Yin didn't really despise making friends with powerful people, but also accepted the appointment of Ning Wangzhu and stayed in Ning to put on a show), and he was willing to stay out of the system, so we should treat every historical figure fairly.
