Mr. Ma Shijun published 150 papers and 7 monographs. Recruited and trained more than 20 masters and 19 doctoral students. In the ecological and physiological research of Locusta migratoria manilensis, important theories such as "social-economic-natural" complex ecosystem and ecological engineering were put forward and established, as well as the application of system ecology theory in environmental protection, which made pioneering and basic work for the development of ecological undertakings in China.
As early as the 1970s, the topic of sustainable development was put forward, and the famous Brundtland Declaration was drafted together with Norwegian Prime Minister Mrs. Brundtland and others: "Our future is the same".
The concept of ecology is defined as follows: ecology is a science that studies the interaction between living systems and its mechanism. (Ma Shijun, 1980)
