Psychiatry is the main specialty of the Fourth People's Hospital of Wuhu, and it is also the key discipline of medical care in Wuhu. It has a long history and integrates the prevention, treatment and health education of mental illness. It has nearly 60 on-the-job psychiatrists, nearly one-third of whom are experts with the title of deputy high school or above. Doctors have excellent professional skills and enjoy a high reputation both inside and outside the province. There are nearly 400 beds and six inpatient wards, including two female wards, two male wards, a rehabilitation ward and an open ward. Drug therapy, ECT therapy, integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine therapy and psychological counseling, psychotherapy, behavior training, entertainment therapy, rehabilitation training and other treatment methods were adopted. It is mainly used to treat schizophrenia, emotional mental disorder, organic mental disorder, hysteria, stress disorder, alcohol dependence and personality disorder.

Our department pays attention to the development and construction of disciplines while completing clinical medical work. Since 2005, it has continuously undertaken provincial and municipal continuing education classes (mental health in general hospitals, new clinical progress of anxiety and depression disorders, and community mental health), which has played a very good role in popularizing and improving the mental health knowledge of general practitioners in the city. Participate in many scientific research projects of provincial, municipal and foreign research institutions. In 2007, we cooperated with Shanghai Jiaotong University, Columbia University and Aberdeen University in the United Kingdom to carry out the "Study on the Correlation between Famine and Schizophrenia", in 2008, we cooperated with Shanghai Jiaotong University to carry out the "Study on Metabolic Molecular Markers of Schizophrenia", and in 2009, related research is under way. Medical staff attach importance to clinical pioneering research, and high-level academic papers are published in domestic and foreign magazines every year.

The undergraduate course implements 24-hour consultation service, and special patients can make an appointment for on-site consultation.
