In the past 60 years, the civil engineering major of Civil Engineering and Architecture College has been based in the northwest, facing the whole country, closely focusing on the demand for talents for economic and social development, and in accordance with the educational ideas of "facing modernization, facing the world, facing the future" and "thick foundation, wide caliber and high quality", the training mode of undergraduate-master-doctor has gradually formed. From the original single professional direction of construction engineering, it has developed into five professional directions: construction management, underground engineering, engineering cost and traffic civil engineering. In terms of specialty construction and discipline development, it has gradually formed the professional advantages and school-running characteristics of key research directions, such as the theory and application of steel structure foundation, earthquake resistance of engineering structures, structural strength theory and loess foundation, which are led by well-known scholars.

In 2003, the major of civil engineering was awarded as "Shaanxi Famous Brand Major"; In 2006, the school took the lead in passing the professional evaluation organized by the Ministry of Construction; In 2007, "Civil Engineering Talent Training Mode Innovation Experimental Zone" was awarded as Shaanxi Talent Training Mode Innovation Experimental Zone. In 2008, it was approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as the third batch of national characteristic construction sites; In 2009, "Civil Engineering Experimental Teaching Center" was approved as the construction unit of national experimental teaching demonstration center.

At present, there are four teaching teams in civil engineering major of Chang 'an University. Provincial famous teachers 1 name, 3 school-level famous teachers. There are two excellent courses at the school level: Architectural Technology and Economy and Engineering Structure Stability Theory; Four provincial excellent courses: basic theory of concrete structure, seismic design of building structure, structural mechanics and steel structure; Professor Wang Yihong's teaching achievement won the second prize of national civil engineering teaching achievement in 2005. In the school-level "Young Teachers' Speech Competition" held over the years, many teachers won prizes.

Teaching and research section of steel structure

The steel structure teaching and research section has full-time teachers 10, including 3 professors, 3 associate professors and 4 lecturers. Among the teachers, there are 7 doctors and 1 master 1 person. Teachers with doctoral and master's degrees account for 80% of the total number of teachers. 3 1 5 people aged 40, 4 1 4 people aged 50, and 565438+ 1 person over 0 years old. Young teachers under 40 account for 50% of the total number of teachers. Experts 1 person enjoying the special allowance of the State Council, 2 doctoral supervisors, 3 master supervisors, senior visiting scholars 1 person, and postdoctoral fellows 1 person. In addition, Professor Zhou, a famous expert in the field of steel structure and vice president of China Steel Structure Association, was hired as a part-time professor and doctoral tutor. Teachers' overall educational level is relatively high, and their age structure is reasonable, initially forming a dynamic team of teachers.

The teaching and research section is responsible for the teaching of steel structure, structural stability theory, long-span structure and steel-concrete composite structure and related course design. The main course "Steel Structure" is an excellent course in Shaanxi Province, and "Structural Stability Theory" is an excellent course in Chang 'an University. In recent five years, three textbooks and monographs have been published, namely, Stability of Steel Structures, Analysis of Typical Problems and Self-test Questions of Steel Structures, and Nonlinear Stability of Steel Members.

For a long time, the teaching and research section has paid attention to the construction of teaching quality and achieved remarkable results in teaching reform. In the past five years, it has undertaken 2 provincial and ministerial-level teaching and research projects and 5 school-level teaching and research projects. Teachers in teaching and research section have successively won the second prize of national teaching achievement 1, the first prize of Shaanxi teaching achievement 1, the excellent organization award of People's Republic of China (PRC) Ministry of Education 1, and published 9 papers on teaching reform.

The teaching and research section pays attention to the cultivation of young teachers. In the training of young and middle-aged teachers, scientific research and teaching should be combined to complement each other and promote each other. The teaching and research section regularly organizes observation and teaching, actively guides young and middle-aged teachers to participate in teaching competitions inside and outside the school, and many people win prizes. At the same time, encourage young and middle-aged teachers to participate in national, municipal and school teaching reform projects. In order to further improve teachers' professional and scientific research ability, in recent years, outstanding young and middle-aged teachers have been selected to study in famous universities at home and abroad in a planned way, and young teachers have been actively encouraged to participate in various academic seminars organized by national and local governments and schools to promote the continuous improvement of young teachers' professional quality.

Teaching and research section of concrete and masonry structure

The teaching and research section is responsible for the basic theory of concrete structures, reinforced concrete and masonry structures, seismic design of engineering structures, structural design of high-rise buildings, foreign languages of civil engineering, design methods of loads and structures, design of reinforced concrete floors and stairs, and design of single-storey industrial workshops. The main courses "Basic Theory of Concrete Structures" and "Seismic Design of Building Structures" were rated as excellent courses in Shaanxi Province. The "Teaching Team of Concrete and Earthquake-resistant Series Courses" affiliated to the Teaching and Research Section was awarded the teaching team of Shaanxi Province in 2008.

There are 27 teachers in the teaching and research section, including 4 professors, 6 associate professors/kloc-0 and 7 lecturers. Among the teachers, doctor 15, master 10, and 92% of them have doctor's and master's degrees. Among the teachers, 5 are under 30 years old, 8 are under 3 1 ~ 40 years old, 8 are under 4 1 ~ 50 years old, and 5 are over 5/kloc-0 years old. Young teachers under 40 account for 50% of the total number of teachers. A team of teachers with high academic level, reasonable age structure and full of vitality has been formed. Among the teachers, there are members of the National Civil Engineering Professional Steering Committee 1 person, 2 members who enjoy special allowances from the State Council, and famous teachers from Shaanxi Province 1 person. Five teachers have the qualifications of national first-class registered structural engineer and registered supervision engineer.

For a long time, the teaching and research section has paid attention to the construction of teaching quality. It has successively undertaken more than ten teaching and research projects, such as the teaching reform project of the Ministry of Construction, the research and practice of structural engineering curriculum system reform of civil engineering specialty, and the third round of higher education teaching project of Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education. It has built a model competition platform to strengthen the innovative ability of college students' structural design, won the second prize of national teaching achievement 1, and the first prize of Shaanxi teaching achievement 1, and published the national 11th Five-Year Plan.

The teaching and research section pays attention to the cultivation of young teachers and the combination of scientific research and teaching in the cultivation of young and middle-aged teachers, so that the two can promote each other. The teaching and research group regularly organizes activities such as lecture observation, resource sharing and experience exchange to help young teachers grow up and actively recommend young teachers to participate in the school-level lecture competition, which has achieved excellent results. Among them, Li Hong won the first prize of "Chang 'an University Young Teachers' Lecture Contest", the title of "Chang 'an University Young Lecturer Model" and Ye won the third prize of "Chang 'an University Young Teachers' Lecture Contest".
