It is not the same thing as the core journals of science and technology. The statistical source periodicals of scientific papers in China published by China Institute of Science and Technology Information, also known as the core periodicals of science and technology in China, mainly belong to the natural science field, and are currently recognized as the catalogue of statistical source periodicals of science and technology in China. Entrusted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, its authority ranks first in China.

China Journal of Statistical Sources of Sci-tech Papers is not a lifelong system, and it is valid for three years. After three years, China Institute of Science and Technology Information will re-evaluate it and follow the principle of "survival of the fittest". Therefore, the academic influence of "statistical source journals" is increasingly accepted by academic institutions and scientific research institutions, and it is regarded as one of the evaluation indicators of the academic level of scientific research papers.
There are more than 9,000 periodicals in China (including medical periodicals 1940). By the end of 2006, there were about 1652 journals published as "Statistical Source Journals of Scientific Papers in China", including about 5 19 medical journals.
