Abstract: With the continuous development of global economic integration, English has gradually become a global language. The concept of the new curriculum reform requires the implementation of quality education to help students develop their sustainable learning ability and master certain language skills. This paper expounds the importance of effective English teaching under the new curriculum standards from three aspects: guiding English teaching with the concept of new curriculum reform, advocating student-centered autonomous learning, and stimulating students' interest with the principle of creativity.
