My boyfriend is a doctoral student and stays in the laboratory almost every day. Should I break up with him?
Doing scientific research is like this, not just him.

You know, reading a PhD is not an easy task, and it requires great determination and perseverance. Breaking up with him at this time is equivalent to giving him the heaviest blow at the most difficult time, and you have one more enemy. You don't see eye to eye and you're not on the same road. Such a boy is of no use to you, and it is strongly recommended to break up. After his graduation, you have no life to enjoy the great education, social status and property advantages he will bring to children and families.

Briefly talk about how busy the doctor is. Busy with what?

Too busy to have winter and summer vacations, Sundays, and various holidays. Since I went to graduate school, especially after studying PhD, I haven't had winter and summer vacations, because studying ecological summer vacation is a good time to travel abroad, and winter vacation is a good time to process samples and do large-scale long-term experiments. So others went home, so I went on a business trip and did experiments with my partner.

Too busy to eat well, have a good rest and often stay up late. Get up at 7 o'clock on time every day after reading a PhD and start a day's work. Sometimes I just do experiments while eating, so I don't eat, just eat some bread and biscuits. Because the experiment can't give up halfway! An experiment takes a long time, often until eleven or twelve in the evening. I have never gone to bed before eleven o'clock since I was a graduate student.

Too busy to spend Saturday and Sunday. Saturdays and Sundays are basically non-existent for doctors, especially for doctors in research institutes, who have a lot of tasks (experiments and articles) every day, and even can't finish them on the same day, so there is little normal rest on Saturdays and Sundays.

Too busy to fall in love. From the beginning of graduate school, especially after doctoral studies, all daily appointments have become experiments, field trips, writing articles in the office, discussing ideas and so on. And those doctors who are not around have no time and opportunity to fall in love, so many single older doctors can't find a partner.

So what are these doctors busy with every day? Busy writing scientific articles. The graduation requirements of doctors are still very high, and the quality of articles required by many research institutions and universities is still very high. My girlfriend's research institute also requires her to complete a corresponding number of articles. It is a time-consuming and laborious thing to write articles and sort out the ideas of articles. Graduation thesis is related to a person's degree, and ideas, structure, experimental design and so on need to be carried out bit by bit, which is often denied by the tutor.

Busy doing experiments to accumulate data. As a doctor of ecology, accumulating data by doing experiments is the only way to meet the graduation requirements. The collection, simple processing, experiment implementation, data collection and analysis of test samples all need a lot of time and energy. The experimental period is as short as a few days or months, and as long as one or two years or even longer. However, some experiments still have failures and unsatisfactory data, which need to be repeated. These all take up a lot of time.

Busy with the tasks of tutors, many things of tutors, such as PPT for meetings and the arrangement of fund project books, are generally done by doctors themselves. These things often interrupt the day's task arrangement, but they have to be done.

Reading PhD is very busy and hard. As "family members", we should be able to understand each other, help as much as possible if we can, and give psychological and spiritual support to people who are not around.
