The core is appraised by many authoritative experts from Peking University Library and academic circles, and the libraries of several universities in China are determined according to the citation rate, reprint rate and abstract rate of periodicals.

As a core periodical, Peking University Core requires high quality papers. Therefore, general or poor quality papers will not be considered in principle, which cuts off the hopes of a large part of people. In addition, many medical workers have to do their best to publish papers in core journals in order to achieve the goals and requirements of evaluating professional titles. There are at least one million "just-needed" and urgently needed people in the country, and several million people publish first and prepare first, so as to accumulate competitive capital in advance for future professional title evaluation. However, the number of core journals in Peking University is insufficient and the requirements are high, which easily leads to difficulties in publishing.
