Zhu Youyong has long been engaged in the research on the basis, application basis and demonstration and popularization of biodiversity in the prevention and control of plant diseases, and initially revealed the basic laws and principles of biodiversity in the prevention and control of plant diseases. The theory and technology of using rice genetic diversity to control rice blast and the theory of using biodiversity to control plant diseases have been established internationally, and remarkable economic, social and ecological benefits have been achieved through demonstration and popularization of tens of millions of acres at home and abroad. The academic paper "Genetic Diversity and Disease Control of Rice", which marked this achievement, was published in the British magazine Nature in 2000, and was highly praised and generally recognized by scientific circles at home and abroad. Up to now, Professor Zhu Youyong has presided over 973 Project 1, 863 National Key Project, National Natural Science Foundation, FAO, Asian Development Bank, and more than 20 provincial and ministerial projects, with a cumulative promotion area of 1 100 million mu, which provides a successful example for using biodiversity to promote food security. He has published more than 30 papers 130 and 5 monographs in academic journals at home and abroad such as NATURE.
