Outstanding academic achievements: The selection of academicians requires candidates to have made outstanding academic achievements in natural science, engineering technology, agricultural science, medicine and health. Candidates need to have a doctoral degree or research results equivalent to a doctoral degree, and have made outstanding contributions in their own research fields.
2. International academic status: The selection of academicians requires candidates to have high academic status and influence in the world, including outstanding performance in publishing high-level papers in internationally renowned journals, and being invited by internationally renowned academic groups to be the chairman or spokesperson.
3. Leadership talents: The selection of academicians requires candidates to have high leadership and professional skills in technology and management in academic fields and related fields, and can make important contributions to the development of disciplines in this field and the progress of national science and technology.
4. Contribution to the country and people: The selection of academicians requires that candidates have made important contributions to the country and people, including achievements in scientific research, technological innovation, industrial development and social services.
5. Integrity, morality and social reputation: Academician selection requires candidates to have good integrity, morality and social reputation, abide by academic norms and moral standards, and make positive contributions to social development.
Maximum age for academician evaluation:
First of all, the detailed rules for the implementation of the co-election of academicians of China Academy of Sciences stipulate that special attention should be paid to the selection of outstanding young and middle-aged scientific and technological experts who meet the standards and conditions. The age of the recommended person (calculated on June 30th of the year of co-election) is generally not more than 65 years old. Among the official candidates of various departments, no less than one third are under 60 years old (including 60 years old).
Secondly, academician candidates are recommended by academicians and academic groups and their applications are not accepted. The Presidium of the academic department may, according to the needs of the construction of academician team, adopt a special recommendation mechanism to recommend academician candidates.
Finally, candidates over the age of 65 need to be recommended by six or more academicians, and at least four academicians are in the same department as the academicians recommended by the candidates.
