Over the past 40 years, the Conservatory of Music has trained a large number of outstanding musicians, such as Song Zu Ying and Sambo. It has also trained and transported all kinds of artistic talents for many music groups, education systems, scientific research institutions, propaganda media and ethnic minority areas throughout the country. Among them, many graduates have won gold, silver and bronze prizes in various international and domestic music competitions. And they all play an important role in their respective posts.
In addition to our teachers, the Conservatory of Music has also hired many well-known experts and professors from the Central Committee, China Conservatory of Music and major music groups in Beijing to undertake teaching work for a long time, and also invited some internationally renowned musicians to visit our college regularly. And has established inter-school relations with conservatories in western countries, with frequent academic activities.
There are ethnic orchestras, ethnic youth philharmonic orchestras and ethnic chorus in the Conservatory of Music. Its cast is huge, powerful and unique. Among them, minority orchestras have more distinctive characteristics and strength.
Founded in 1959, the Conservatory of Music of Minzu University of China is the highest institution of music education for ethnic minorities in China and the cradle for cultivating senior musical talents of ethnic minorities. Over the past 50 years, the College has sent thousands of outstanding musicians to the society, especially to the ethnic areas in China. Now it has become an academic leader and backbone in the fields of music education, music creation, music performance and music research in various regions, and has made important contributions to the development of music culture in ethnic areas of China.
With the development of 50 years, the Conservatory of Music has formed a school-running mode integrating teaching, learning, creation and artistic practice, and has become a national-level "experimental area for cultivating innovative talents in national music". At present, it has a national authorization point for doctoral degree in minority music and a master's degree in musicology, with more than 30 professional directions in 8 departments including musicology, composition, vocal performance, folk music performance, orchestral performance, piano performance, music education and ethnic instrumental music.
The college has established a strong teaching team with 87 full-time teachers, including professors and full-time high school students 10, and 24 associate professors and associate high school students, accounting for 40% of the total number of teachers. 26 tutors for master students and 3 tutors for doctoral students; 5 doctors and 3 masters1person, accounting for 44% of the total number of teachers; 1 national candidate for the National "Hundred Million Talents Project in the New Century", 1 winner of the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education, and 1 winner of the National Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award. In teaching, scientific research and music creation, a group of experts and scholars with outstanding contributions have emerged, and they have created such influential music works as Legend of Wood Carving, Great Changes in Liangshan, and Five Heroes of Langya Mountain. According to incomplete statistics, since its establishment, teachers and students have won more than 320 prizes in various competitions at home and abroad, and music works have won more than 40 prizes in domestic and international competitions. For example, Ding Ling, a student of grade 200 1, won the second place in the 4th Minabio International Piano Competition (Youth Group) in Italy. Liu, a 2002 student, won the third place in the First International Vocal Music Competition in Uzbania, Italy. Gong Yinan, a 2004 student, won the third place in the 10th Beijing International Accordion Competition (Youth Group). Kang, a secondary school student in 2000, won the second prize in the final of the "Tianhua Cup" National Youth Erhu Competition; Yao Xiaoxi, a student of grade 2003, won the third prize of "National Art College Flute Playing Competition" (Youth Professional Group); In 2008, Liu Sisi, Cao Yuanyuan, Chen Xiao and other students won the China Government Award for Culture and Art and the Group B Silver Award for Erhu, Guzheng and Dulcimer in the Third National Musical Instrument Competition.
Over the past 20 years, the college has won more than 80 scientific research projects and award-winning achievements, including more than 10 provincial and ministerial projects and achievements. For example, the national key scientific research achievement "China Folk Songs Integration" (Tibet Volume) with Dr. Jia Yong Qun Pei as the deputy editor won the first prize of the Ministry of Culture, the Propaganda Department of the CPC, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the All-China Federation of Literary and Art Circles in 2004. Dr. Bao's monograph "Cultural Diversity of Mongolian Buddhist Music" won the second prize of the eighth Beijing Excellent Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences; Juck Zhang's works "Three Ballads in Southern Yunnan" and "Spring Comes" won the second and third China Golden Bell Awards respectively. Wu Rina's Auspicious Three Treasures won the 10th "Five One Project Award" in Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China.
Over the years, the Conservatory of Music has insisted on inheriting and carrying forward the minority music culture as its school purpose and characteristics, and strived to build a center for teaching, research, creation and development of minority music in China, gradually realizing a complete, scientific and distinctive discipline system. The mature characteristic curriculum system, such as traditional music of ethnic minorities in China, vocal performance of ethnic minorities in China and instrumental performance of ethnic minorities in China, has certain influence in China. There are more than 20 kinds of characteristic teaching materials developed around these courses, such as Selected Vocal Teaching Materials for Ethnic Minorities in China and Selected Vocal Teaching Materials for Ethnic Minorities in China edited by Meng Xinyang. Selected Solfeggio of Multi-voice Folk Songs of Ethnic Minorities in China edited by Long Xiaoyun, Ethnic Drama edited by Colleen, China Ethnic Musical Instruments edited by Zhao, Dong Bula Playing Course edited by Imanali and Bajard, etc. In terms of teaching reform, the college attaches importance to and increases the proportion of minority music culture in the curriculum system, and undertakes the construction project of "National Experimental Zone for Training Innovative Musical Talents". In 2002, "Traditional Music of Ethnic Minorities in China" was first established as an independent compulsory course for undergraduates, which was juxtaposed with "Traditional Music of Han Nationality in China". Seen from the objective educational system, the national music has been truly incorporated into the higher education system, and the teaching purpose of the multicultural characteristics of China national music has been realized. This course has been listed as "Beijing Excellent Course". The Minority Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music is an orchestra featuring the development, creation and performance of minority musical instruments. It has been active at home and abroad for ten years and has had a great influence in academic circles. He participated in the performance of welcoming the Olympic flag at the closing ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and was awarded an honorary award by the Beijing Municipal Committee and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games. The orchestra has made many beneficial explorations in the development and performance of minority musical instruments.
While insisting on teaching as the center, the Conservatory of Music constantly strengthens teachers' scientific research consciousness and ability. Up to now, the College has undertaken many provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, such as Research on Tibetan Native Music Culture, Spread and Regional Variation of Tibetan Buddhist Music Culture in China, and Research on Mongolian Religion and Sacrifice Music Culture, and published more than 200 papers and music works in academic journals and conferences at home and abroad. Conservatory of Music belongs to the national key universities of "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project", and completed the scientific research project "China Minority Music Database" of "21Project" during the tenth five-year plan period.
As the highest institution of music education for ethnic minorities in China, Conservatory of Music, together with other disciplines, is striving to build a high-level research university of Minzu University of China with distinctive ethnic characteristics and school-running mode.
