However, the contradiction between supply and demand of electronics has become increasingly prominent, and the serious shortage of power supply has restricted the development speed of the national economy. In order to alleviate the current and future contradiction between power supply and demand and fundamentally solve the problem, in addition to increasing power generation, various energy-saving measures should be taken to the maximum extent.
It is also important to make good use of existing power facilities. Using reactive power compensation technology to tap the potential of existing power resources is one of the feasible measures to get quick results and save a lot of electricity. Reactive power compensation can save electricity expenses, reduce system energy consumption, reduce active power loss by 20% ~ 45%, and improve voltage quality. After field compensation, the power factor of three-phase asynchronous motor is improved due to the decrease of current, thus increasing the capacity of transformer.
In the power grid above 10kv, for safety reasons, automatic reactive power compensation devices are rarely used. In addition, the principle of reactive power compensation on the spot as much as possible, low-voltage automatic reactive power compensation devices have been widely used, and new technologies are constantly emerging. There are several methods of reactive power compensation at home and abroad. There are reactive power compensation methods for low-voltage distribution network, reactive power compensation for high-voltage distribution network and intelligent low-voltage dynamic reactive power compensation technology.
I personally prefer intelligent dynamic reactive power compensation technology. Due to the continuous development of power electronics technology, intelligent control technology and information communication technology, many new power technologies and equipment have emerged. In recent years, with the transformation of urban and rural power grids, intelligent reactive power compensation technology has been widely used in public distribution transformers of low-voltage distribution networks all over the country. It integrates the functions of low-voltage reactive power compensation, comprehensive monitoring of distribution, line loss measurement of distribution station, voltage qualification rate evaluation, harmonic monitoring and so on. At the same time, the combination with distribution dynamic system is fully considered.

This topic mainly studies the real-time detection of voltage and current, the calculation of reactive power and the design of compensation method. The software part includes A/D conversion subroutine, reactive power calculation algorithm, display program module, reactive power compensation algorithm and main program of capacitor bank switching strategy.
