From the Han Dynasty to the early Song Dynasty, the county was divided into north and south. In the northern Dafushui and Zhangshui basins, there are Nanxinshi, Xinshi and Fushui counties successively. Du Yun, Xinyang, Panpi, Jiaoling and Jingshan counties have been established in the southern Qinshui and Yonglong basins. Jingshan is named after Jingyuan Mountain in the east of the county seat. The earliest recorded place name in this county is Xinshi. As early as the late primitive society, there were human beings in China, who created rich and colorful prehistoric culture with hard-working and intelligent hands. A large number of ancient cultural remains such as pottery, chaff and primitive architectural relics unearthed from Qujialing cultural site show that people had mastered more advanced production technology at that time, and planting rice, raising livestock and poultry and textile handicrafts became the main production activities. In the Western Han Dynasty, the northern Dafu River basin belonged to anlu county; Jingshan River Basin in the south belongs to Du Yun County, which is under the jurisdiction of the new town. At the beginning of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Dafushui River Basin was separated from anlu county, and a new post-state was established in the south, which was ruled by the capital (now Qin Guan and Song He Town).

During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Nanxi County was renamed Xinshi County; The northern boundary of Du Yun County (the southeast area of the county) was separated and Xinyang County was established, which was named after it was located in the south of the new city. From Sui Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, Jingshan County (including Fushui County) successively belonged to anlu county, Wenzhou, Fushui County, Yunzhou and Anlufu (changed to Anluzhou and Chengtianfu in Ming Dynasty).

At the beginning of the Republic of China, it belonged to Xiangyang Road, 1932 belonged to the sixth administrative supervision area of Hubei Province, and 1936 belonged to the third administrative supervision area.

During the Agrarian Revolution, the southern part of Jingshan was a part of the revolutionary base in western Hunan and Hubei, and the Soviet government of jingshan county was established in Tailing Village, Yanmenkou Town.

During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, jingshan county City was occupied by the Japanese Puppet, and the puppet regime was established for six years.
