What does ISSN mean?
ISSN is an international standard code for continuous publications based on the international standard ISO3297. Its purpose is to make every serial publication with different titles and versions in the world have an international unique code identification.

ISSN is managed by the International ISDS Center in Paris, France. The number is prefixed by ISSN and consists of 8 digits. The 8-digit number is divided into two sections, each with 4 digits, and the middle is connected by a hyphen.

Each ISSN is associated with the standard title of its corresponding serial publication. This standard title is what we call "approval title". When the title of a publication is repeated, add the restriction information of the title to distinguish it from other similar titles.

Extended data

Applying for ISSN can make publications conform to international standards. As long as the names of publications recognized by the United Nations are not duplicated, they can be used. If the name of the publication remains unchanged as scheduled, the serial number will be valid for a long time.

The international standard serial number can accurately and quickly identify the name and publishing unit of a periodical (newspaper/magazine, etc.). ). This system has been used in most countries all over the world and has become a prominent symbol of standard journals.

In some countries or regions, in addition to the international standard periodical number, standard periodical publications also require national or local periodical numbers to facilitate management.
