What are the causes of frequent fires in Liangshan, Sichuan, and how to prevent them?
The recent forest fire in Liangshan, Sichuan Province killed many firefighters. News ahead, many people are mourning for this matter. Many people have noticed that at almost the same time last year, a fire broke out in the same area, namely Liangshan, which also caused many firefighters to die. Then the fire may be caused by the following reasons:

I. Climatic and geographical reasons

The subtropical monsoon climate is distributed in the eastern part of the mainland, and it is influenced by the southeast wind in summer, which is caused by the different thermal properties of land and ocean. This phenomenon is greatly influenced by the southwest Indian Ocean monsoon in western Sichuan and Yunnan, both of which belong to subtropical monsoon climate, with obvious dry and wet conditions in summer.

On the other hand, from the perspective of precipitation time, winter and spring in southwest China are also dry periods, and rainfall is very scarce. In addition, from the spatial distribution of precipitation, precipitation tends to decrease from east to west. In winter and spring, the temperature rises day by day, so in March and April, western Sichuan entered a period of high fire incidence.

Second, the reasons for vegetation cover

Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture is located at the junction of the east and west of China, and its shape and structure are very complicated. It is located at the northeast edge of Hengduan Mountains in southwest Sichuan, and it is the dividing line between Sichuan Basin and the central plateau of Yunnan Province. The geographical location and shape are rugged, and the valley is deep. The main vegetation species in Liangshan Prefecture is Pinus yunnanensis, which is a tree species with deep roots and strong light avoidance.

Although this tree is evergreen, it has fallen leaves all year round. In the pine forests in southwest China, there are often dead pine trees dozens of centimeters long, which are easy to burn when the temperature is high, causing fires. Spring is the thunderstorm season in southern China, which is easy to cause lightning in forest areas and become the cause of fire. Last year's Liangshan fire was finally confirmed as lightning and thunderstorm, and the fire point was an 80-year-old Yunnan pine.

In such a dry and hot environment in summer, forest vegetation is almost consumed and burned out, and it burns quickly when it meets a fire source, leading to a fire. This is the natural cause of the fire. Human beings often seem very small in front of nature. We can't transform nature, we can only adapt to it and live in harmony with it. At the same time, we can't change the local dry and hot climate in Liangshan, but we can control the fire source and avoid the fire.
