Flame stabilizer: how to stabilize the flame? The main thing is that it has a circle and a horn. This group supplies oil and air flows from this side. When you get to this place, there is a vortex. You can burn it after spraying oil and igniting it. It can be burned to the back by fuel injection and ignition. In this way, the afterburner can be ignited and continue to burn.

Since the advent of turbojet engine in 1940s, V-groove flame stabilizer has been dominating the world. But the flame is unstable, the efficiency is low and the fuel consumption rate is high. What is even more frightening is that it is easy to oscillate and burn, threatening flight safety. In the history of world aviation, it is not uncommon for aircraft engines to be destroyed and people to die due to "oscillation" combustion failure. In recent years, the United States, the Soviet Union and Britain have successively developed several new flame stabilizers, but there is no major breakthrough in performance.
But in China, a young man made a legendary breakthrough.
The young man's name is Gao Song. He graduated from the Aeroengine Department of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in that turbulent era. Because my father was branded as "reactionary academic authority", he was inexplicably assigned to work in Mangya Asbestos Mine in Qinghai. In Qinghai, he stayed 10 years.

On the way to this place, I noticed all kinds of sand dunes in the desert. One of the dunes looks beautiful, like a crescent moon. The first scenic spot in the east is Mogao Grottoes, and the second scenic spot is Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring. Crescent Spring and Mingsha Mountain have a history of thousands of years, and they are a big crescent-shaped sand dune. There are many tourists going during the day, so the sand in Mingsha Mountain has been trampled down and its shape has been damaged. At night, the first night is windy, and the next day you go to see the sand dunes and restore them to their original state.

In the desert where the wind roars, sand dunes of other shapes have been blown away, deformed, and some have moved, but the crescent-shaped sand dunes are stubbornly standing there.

I thought at that time, why is this dune so stable? If it can stay there for decades, hundreds or even thousands of years, there must be a reason. At that time, some experiments were also done, such as finding some pieces of paper and putting them on the sand dunes to let the wind blow. As a result, I found that after the wind blew over the sand dunes, some eddies were formed. These eddies are very regular. On the one hand, they turned around. On the other hand, some of them suck the two crescent-shaped tips of sand dunes like tornadoes. They always suck on both sides like this. I was just curious and didn't want to use it.

1978, Gog returned to his alma mater, Department of Aero-Engine, Beihang University, for postgraduate study. Under the guidance of Professor Huang Ning, a famous combustion expert in China, Gog resolutely chose the research topic of dune vortex flame stabilizer.

Professor Huang Ning is very interested. After I told him the shape of the dunes, he said there must be a reason. If the dunes want to stabilize the vortex behind them, they must be stabilized. If it is unstable, it will take the sand away. You should study it carefully and find out what the reason is.

So I found a worker's master, knocked out a crescent-shaped experimental device with an iron plate, and then put it in a small laboratory to blow the experiment. The experimental results are exciting. Gog reported the experimental results to the experts, and everyone was surprised and unbelievable.

An old professor was very cheerful and said, how is this possible? From the first collection of the Institute of Combustion to the nineteenth collection, there is not an article saying that small resistance can lead to great stability, which is hard to believe. Later, we said that the experimental results were like this. Later, the old professor went to see our experiment. After reading it, he was convinced. He said it was like this.

Gog did not live up to the ardent expectations of his tutor, and after hard research, he found ways and means to stabilize the vortex. At the end of 1980, the principle test of sand dune trapped vortex flame stabilizer was successful; The stable range of flame combustion has been increased several times. It can also reduce fuel consumption and increase engine thrust, killing two birds with one stone.

Many leaders went to the site for on-site guidance, and the experimental results were very encouraging, which means that the sand dune stabilizer showed superior performance after installation. 4 10 Factory (Shenyang Engine Factory) made a decisive decision, saying that all the engines we produce now should be changed into sand dune trapped vortex combustion systems. After this change, even the unqualified products accumulated in the warehouse for more than ten years in the past are unqualified in thrust, and the thrust can not reach the level stipulated by the military. All those engines were removed and replaced with this stabilizer one by one. After installing the stabilizer, the test results show that the qualified rate of engine thrust is 100%.
