The second-level constructor qualification examination is divided into comprehensive examination and professional examination. The comprehensive examination includes two subjects: building engineering regulations and related knowledge and construction management. These two subjects are unified examination subjects for all professional candidates, and the professional examination is professional engineering management and practice 1 subject.
Professional engineering management and practice are divided into 10 majors, namely: construction engineering, highway engineering, water conservancy and hydropower engineering, municipal public works, mining engineering and electromechanical engineering. Candidates choose a major to take the exam according to their work needs and their own conditions when registering.

The second-level constructor is an architectural professional qualification and a necessary condition for being a project manager. Registered construction engineer is a registered practitioner who relies on professional technology and takes project management as the core. Those who have passed the qualification examination of the second-level constructor shall be awarded the "Qualification Certificate of the Second-level Constructor in People's Republic of China (PRC)" by the Personnel Department and the Housing and Construction Department of the province, autonomous region and municipality directly under the Central Government.
