The original name of aquarium technology is urban fishery. It is separated from aquaculture and is a branch of aquaculture. Just look at the name. To be clear, the study of fish, ornamental fish and pet turtles in aquariums is a little bit, and the concept of aquaculture is a little bigger. However, the course arrangement and internship arrangement of the two majors are actually similar. Employment is similar. So there is no difference in essence.
At present, the development of aquarium industry has attracted more and more attention from the world. The overall industrial scale exceeds $654.38+0.4 billion, with an annual growth rate of 654.38+00%. However, the lack of scientific and technological talents in China's aquarium industry has restricted the development of the aquarium industry. In order to solve the problems that restrict the development of the aquarium industry, Shanghai Ocean University set up the pilot major of aquarium science and technology in 2003, and then four agricultural universities set up this major. By comparing the teaching situation of aquarium science and technology major in different schools, it is found that there are some problems in aquarium science and technology major in China, such as lack of teachers, imperfect teaching materials and curriculum system, and lack of practice bases, which seriously limit the development of professional education in aquarium science and technology.
Employment prospects: With the development of sightseeing, ornamental aquariums have gradually become the first choice facilities for hotels, restaurants, large and medium-sized enterprises (product showrooms, storage rooms) and family decoration. Cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Dalian have set up aquariums such as Ocean Aquarium, Ocean Underwater World and Xidi Fishing Center. Because it is suitable for urban industry, experts predict that by 20 10, the output value of aquarium industry in coastal cities will exceed that of traditional aquaculture.
