Brief introduction of School of Mechanical Engineering, Southeast University;

School of Mechanical Engineering originated from Nanjing Normal University, the predecessor of Southeast University. As a technical specialized course, it was founded in 19 16. It is the earliest engineering department established in Southeast University, which has passed through department of mechanical engineering of National Central University, department of mechanical engineering of Nanjing Institute of Technology and department of mechanical engineering of Southeast University. In the 90-year history of running a school, Mao Yisheng, Zhou Ren, Zhou Huijiu, Wu, Qian, Bai Shiyi, Chen, Ceng Dechao, Yan, Zhao, Wang Guo Jin, Tong Binggang, Ding Henggao and other famous scholars and academicians of the two academies all worked or studied in the School of Mechanical Engineering. Over the past 90 years, the School of Mechanical Engineering has not only trained more than 1 10,000 graduates for China's machinery, electronics and other industrial fields, but also supported the establishment and development of disciplines and specialties such as energy and power, aviation, automation, instrument science, automobiles and materials, making important contributions to China's higher education and national economic construction.

At present, the School of Mechanical Engineering has five departments: Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation Department, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering Department, Design Engineering Department, Vehicle Engineering Department and Industrial Engineering Department, two school-level centers for industrial development and training and electric light source research, and a mechanical engineering experimental platform. There are 0/8 research institutes/KLOC-0, 7 laboratories, and 0/96 faculty members/KLOC-0, including 26 senior titles, 58 associate senior titles and doctoral supervisors.

At present, the School of Mechanical Engineering has formed a first-class discipline of mechanical engineering, a postdoctoral mobile station, and six doctoral and master's programs in two disciplines, including mechanical manufacturing and automation, mechanical electronic engineering, mechanical design and theory, vehicle engineering, industrial design and manufacturing industrial engineering, all of which can recruit doctoral and master's students. Mechanical engineering and its automation and industrial engineering are two undergraduate majors with a complete mechanical engineering discipline system. Among them, the discipline of mechanical manufacturing and automation was approved as a key discipline in Jiangsu Province and a national key discipline training point in 2005.

Taking the opportunity of "2 1 1 project" and "985 project", the college focuses on the * * * technology in modern equipment design and manufacturing, including rapid product/process/assembly integrated development technology, system modeling, flexible reconstruction and quality assurance technology of manufacturing systems and processes, acquisition, processing, transmission and application technology of manufacturing information and knowledge, and electromechanical technology. Nano-manufacturing, ultra-precision machining and micro-machining technology have their own characteristics in the design, manufacture, adaptive control, quality assurance and electromagnetic compatibility of modern automation equipment such as new light sources and equipment, smart cars and engineering vehicles, CNC machine tools, special equipment for semiconductor integrated circuits and micro-special machinery.

The School of Mechanical Engineering has undertaken and completed a large number of national, ministerial and provincial scientific research projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation, the National 863 High-tech, the national key scientific research projects and the key research projects of the Ministry and the province, as well as scientific cooperation and product development projects with enterprises. The annual scientific research funding is 20 million yuan, and the scientific research results are outstanding. Since 1980s, our college has won the second prize of national scientific and technological progress 1, five provincial first prizes, eight second prizes1,40 third and fourth prizes and 60 patents. Some achievements have reached the international or domestic advanced level, and have been applied to production practice, resulting in good social and economic benefits. At the same time, college teachers write books and publish a large number of scientific research papers and more than 100 influential academic monographs in core journals.

The School of Mechanical Engineering has rich experience in running a school and excellent teaching tradition. The majority of teachers are enthusiastic about teaching reform, and have conducted long-term, all-round research, exploration and systematic and in-depth practice around personnel training, forming a scientific and standardized modern education system, and producing classic textbooks including Mechanical Principles and Fundamentals of Mechanical Design. A number of national and provincial teaching achievements featuring the cultivation of students' learning ability, practical ability and comprehensive innovation ability have trained more than 10,000 graduates. They are deeply welcomed by enterprises and institutions because of their solid professional foundation, comprehensive knowledge, innovative spirit and strong ability, and become the technical backbone in their respective fields and the effective force to promote the scientific and technological progress of machinery manufacturing industry.

Based on the existing disciplines, the School of Mechanical Engineering actively follows the international academic frontiers, strengthens international and domestic academic exchanges, and promotes interdisciplinary integration. The college has actively carried out cooperative research with foreign universities, and has successively obtained funding from cooperation projects between Chinese and British universities, China and Canada, China and Australia. Invited internationally renowned scholars and professors to give lectures in our college, and established extensive cooperative relations with many international academic institutions. At the same time, actively send outstanding young teachers to study abroad, visit or attend international conferences. Over the past five years, more than 60 teachers have gone to the United States, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Germany, Britain, Japan and other countries for further study, which has promoted the overall academic level of the college and expanded its influence.

With the completion of the 40,000-square-meter mechanical engineering building in the new campus of Jiulong Lake, the School of Mechanical Engineering has ushered in a new development period. We will meet challenges, form characteristics and create advantages in opportunities, hopes and struggles, and make greater contributions to economic development, human progress and the take-off of the Chinese nation.
