Cao Pi said in "Essays on Canon": "Building articles is a great undertaking of statecraft and an immortal event." By "articles", he means not only political and ethical works, but also lyric poems. This is the first time in history that literature and Confucianism are listed as one of the "three immortals". Writers consciously pursue the aesthetic characteristics of literature. Without the characteristics of critical beauty, literature cannot be literature. The so-called literary consciousness is ultimately manifested in the conscious pursuit of aesthetic characteristics. What is literature and what is non-literature? Such a problem related to the basic nature of literature did not attract much attention before Wei and Jin Dynasties. During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the types of articles were increasingly diversified, which led to the distinction of various stylistic features. At the same time, it also pays attention to the characteristics of literature. "Dian Lun Wen" said: "Poetry and Fu desire beauty." Wen Fu said: "Poetry is beautiful because of love." Although these understandings are simple in terms of specific style, they are of great significance.
The glory of Wei-Jin literature is reflected in the unique personality of the creative subject, that is, "Wei-Jin demeanor", which is closely related to the social, political and cultural environment at that time, thus affecting literary creation and forming the unique features of some literature in this period.
