Leifeng Pagoda, also known as Princess Pagoda and Xiguan Brick Pagoda, is located on Leifeng Mountain beside Zhaoqian Mountain in Hangzhou West Lake Scenic Area, the capital of Zhejiang Province. The Leifeng Pagoda was built by Qian Hongchu and Wu Wangyue, the son of Huang Fei. Formerly known as "Huangfei Tower", it was renamed as "Leifeng Tower" because it was built in Leifeng. In the China folk story The Legend of the White Snake, the monk Fahai tricked Xu Xian into going to Jinshan, and the White Snake flooded Jinshan to save Xu Xian, and was taken away by Fahai Town under the Leifeng Pagoda. Xiaoqing finally defeated Fahai after practicing her magic. The Leifeng Tower collapsed and the White Snake was rescued.
The Leifeng Pagoda was built in 977, the second year of the Northern Song Dynasty, when Qian Chu, King of Wu Yue, was on the Zhaoqian Mountain on the south bank of the West Lake to pray for national peace. Leifeng Pagoda is named because it was built on Leifeng Mountain in Zhao Xi on the south bank of West Lake. China people named it Leifeng Pagoda after the place, but few people know the Royal Princess Pagoda. As for the origin of Lei Feng's name, according to the record of Lin 'an in Spring Tour, it was named after Lei, a native of the old county, who lived in a temple. It has also been verified that Zhongfeng is also called Huifeng, and the word Huifeng is thunder, and later generations mistakenly watch it and mistakenly call it Lei Feng. Later generations called the scenery of Leifeng Pagoda "Leifeng Sunset" and listed it as one of the ten scenic spots of the West Lake.
Main landscape of Leifeng Tower:
The design of the tower body follows the plane octagonal pavilion design before the Leifeng Tower was burned down, and the appearance is a pavilion-like tower with eight sides and five floors, which retains the consistent style of the Song Tower. Copper tiles are laid on each floor, copper arches are set in the corners, and copper wind chimes are hung under the cornices, which are beautiful and antique. It is reported that the construction of Leifeng Tower with copper was carried out by Zhu Bingren, a master of bronze carving in China, who persuaded experts from all sides with tens of thousands of words. At the same time, there are also extended flat seats on the second to fifth floors for viewing.
