HowNet duplicate checking is based on the continuous appearance of 13 characters, which will be judged as duplicates. In other words, if more than 13 characters are similar, they will be marked as red by the system software and calculated into the repetition rate. When HowNet checked the duplicate, the yellow text was "quotation" and the red article was "suspected plagiarism". There is a threshold for the software repetition rate of HowNet duplicate checking system, and the threshold of HowNet is about 5%. Beyond this threshold, the paper will be judged as unqualified by HowNet system.
If the meaning of a paragraph is too similar, it will be repeated. Although only a few words are the same in paper search, they will be marked in red, but if the meaning of a paragraph is too similar to other people's articles, especially if the similarity exceeds 50%, it is likely that the whole paragraph will be marked in red. At present, the paper duplicate checking system is very powerful, and generally fuzzy algorithm is directly used. Unless the article you quoted is not in the system database, it can't be detected. The paper duplicate checking system can also identify some contents and try not to use them in your own papers just by modifying a few words.
